While Nintendo's flagship creature-collection RPG Pokemon holds the distinction of being the highest-grossing media franchise of all time, few individual monsters have broken into mainstream consciousness quite as fervently as Mudkip. The Hoenn Region starter is infamous on the internet for the "I herd u liek mudkipz" meme, and that popularity carries on to this day.
An artist who goes by LVL225 on Reddit showed reverence for the Water-type Pokemon by posting an image of Mudkip kicking back and enjoying a nice cup of tea inside the island-y terrarium stomach of a hulking mech. Mudkip Mech graced the r/gaming subreddit on Thursday, and has since received over 22,000 upvotes as of this writing.
While not necessarily relevant to Mudkip's origins, the idea of having a glass-stomached mech isn't new in pop culture. One of the more recent iconic examples of the design is D.Va from Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch, which will be releasing its final new character Echo soon.
Fans of Pokemon who have stayed on the bandwagon since Mudkip's heyday can celebrate Easter in Pokemon Sword and Shield by catching high IV Ditto in Max Raid Battles.
