Originally released in 1996 in Japan, and arriving two years later in the West, the Pokemon media franchise has taken the world by storm since. In nearly three decades, nine generations of Pokemon mainline games and several spin-off titles have been released by The Pokemon Company and various collaborators, including Nintendo, Bandai Namco, and Tencent. As the Pokemon series approaches its 30th anniversary in 2026, at least one more title will make its way onto the Nintendo Switch beforehand, as Pokemon Legends: Z-A is slated to be released in 2025. At the time of writing, The Pokemon Company had not released further information about the upcoming title.

As part of a continuing fan art series, one Pokemon trainer unveiled their latest creations on social media. A Reddit user named KosukeSukeP showed off 21 new Pokemon-themed weapon designs on the r/Pokemon subreddit, with three of them sharing the same weapon type. The Paradox Pokemon Gouging Fire, Walking Wake, and Raging Bolt were turned into sword and shield designs by KonosukeSukeP, with each carrying design elements based on their elemental type and distinct body features. In addition to swords and shields, KonosukeSukeP changed the Goodra line to weapons ranging from a short stick to a staff, and the Naganadel line had both a staff and a small ray gun design. The Houndoom and Boltund lines were made into different bladed weapons, and Spiritomb was changed to resemble a scythe, with its swirling body making up the blade.
Pokemon Fan Artist Makes 21 Incredible Weapons Based On Various Creatures
Known for their previous work on turning Koraidon and Miraidon into weapons, KonosukeSukeP also designed magical weapons for both Smeargle and the Alakazam line. Smeargle was changed to a magic brush and palette similar to the ones used by Pictomancers from the Final Fantasy series, and the Alakazam family was appropriately changed to magical spoons of varying lengths. The starfish Pokemon Staryu and Starmie were also redesigned into rapiers, and the Dragon-type Pokemon Haxorus and Druddigon became a giant axe and a hammer respectively.
KonosukeSukeP was praised by other r/pokemon users for their continued effort. As fans look forward to when more news about Pokemon Legends Z-A will arrive, only time will tell when The Pokemon Company will make its next move.
