A Pokemon fan has drawn a unique take on Cubchoo, giving the Pokemon a regional variant that lives in an area with wildly varying weather. The regional form has intrigued Pokemon fans, and is one more example of how the series inspires creativity in its players.

Pokemon regional forms opened up a whole new world for the series, giving older Pokemon unique overhauls without permanently altering their original versions. With a thousand Pokemon to choose from, fans have plenty of choices when designing unique regional forms of their own.

Pokemon fan and artist qobrosii has shared their latest creation, which is a Fire/Ice-type Cubchoo. The blue and white color scheme and drippy nose of the original Cubchoo are gone, replaced with a pink and white body and a sweat drop coming off the back of its head. Similar to Psyduck, this Cubchoo regional variant is holding its head, as the Pokemon suffers from headaches and fevers due to the irregular weather in the area it lives in. Qobrosii even provided reasoning behind the rapidly changing weather, explaining that the imbalances are caused by different Castform forms battling each other.

Cubchoo Regional Variant Draws Attention from Fans

Pokemon enthusiasts have shared their praise for the design, with some being particularly happy that the original Cubchoo's snot booger is gone. Several felt sympathetic given the Pokemon's condition, or made puns about it, like the Pokemon having a "febear" or that it caught the "cubflu." Multiple fans thought it might have been a Psychic-type, given its headache similarity to Psyduck. While that didn't turn out to be the case, considering that Psyduck isn't a Psychic-type either but can use some Psychic moves, perhaps this Cubchoo would work the same way.

Though Pokemon fans are stuck waiting for more to be revealed from the next game in the series, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, artists like qobrosii are helping to keep excitement high for the franchise in general. In fact, qobrosii has designed several unique Pokemon designs before and gained praise for them as well, including regional variants of Hoothoot and Eevee. With the Pokemon fan dropping new art on a regular basis, fans will likely be excited to see what they produce next. However, it remains to be seen if Game Freak and The Pokemon Company's designs measure up, as many of these artworks receive comments from fans lamenting that the actual regional variants and evolutions don't look as cool as some of the ones players have dreamed up.
