Summary

  • One fan's LEGO Pokemon models showcase a variety of creatures from various Pokemon generations.
  • Fans are eagerly awaiting official LEGO Pokemon sets while continuing to build their own custom creations.

Many Pokemon fans have built custom LEGO models of their favorite creatures, and one in particular has assembled quite an impressive collection. From major franchise icons like Pikachu and the Generation 1 starters to less mainstream Pokemon like Volcarona, the possibilities for creating fan-made LEGO renditions are seemingly as vast as a player’s imagination, and they keep building as each new Pokemon game adds even more collectible monsters to the franchise’s already impressive 1,025-monster roster.

While Mega Bloks had its own official line of Pokemon-themed building sets for some time, LEGO models have been limited to those created by fans. This finally changed earlier this year, when LEGO and Nintendo announced they were joining forces once again for an official Pokemon line, with the first products to be released in 2026. So far, only Pikachu is confirmed for a set as part of this latest crossover, though fans are naturally piecing together their own lists of Pokemon they would like to see in LEGO form.

A LEGO Pokemon Game Could Take the Best Features from One Popular Fan Game

If The Pokemon Company ever gets the opportunity to make a LEGO Pokemon game, it should take some inspiration from a popular fan-made mod.

In the meantime, Pokemon players will likely continue to make their own LEGO models to show off online, with one shining example being Reddit user hysterical_cub. In a recent post on the r/pokemon subreddit, they shared photos of several custom Pokemon LEGO models that they made, featuring a wide range of creatures from various Pokemon game generations.

Pokemon Fan Assembles Impressive Line-Up of LEGO Models

They left it up to other users to figure out which Pokemon they built, with some of the most noteworthy ones being the Kabuto/Kabutops and Paras/Parasect lines from Pokemon Red and Blue, the shapeshifting alien Deoxys that was introduced in Generation 3, Cranidos and its evolved form Rampardos, and even a few regional variants like Alolan Meowth and Alolan Exeggutor. Some models are bigger and more accurate than others, but fans have given hysterical_cub plenty of praise for their building skills.

As noted before, it will still be a year or so before LEGO launches its official Pokemon model line, though plenty of talented fans of both will still happily pick up the slack by building and showing off their own impressive creations. 2026 will also mark the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise, and Nintendo still has plenty of exciting Pokemon content planned for 2025 and beyond. This includes Pokemon Legends: Z-A, an upcoming follow-up to 2022’s Pokemon Legends: Arceus that will launch on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 sometime later this year.

LIVE THE LIFE OF A POKÉMON TRAINER IN THE STREETS OF LUMIOSE CITY
Whether you’re a die-hard Pokémon fan or about to toss your first Poké Ball, the Pokémon Legends: Z-A game has plenty to offer for Trainers of all types. Experience classic gameplay with modern twists that are sure to revolutionize your Pokémon RPG experience.

CATCH, BATTLE, AND MEGA-EVOLVE—ALL IN REAL TIME!
Step onto the battlefield and command your Pokémon directly—there are no turns! For the first time in the Pokémon RPG series, Trainers and their Pokémon can both move around in real-time battles, and your Pokémon will unleash their moves when you tell them to. Strategically swapping out your Pokémon and accounting for each move’s timing and area of effect will greatly help you in this new style of battle.

HARNESS THE POWER OF MEGA EVOLUTION
When Trainers have a strong bond with their Pokémon, a Key Stone worn by the Trainer resonates with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, allowing Mega Evolution to take place.

ROGUE MEGA EVOLUTION
Rampaging Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon are threatening Lumiose City. These Pokémon are extra tough to beat, but if you do manage to defeat them, you'll receive valuable Mega Stones as a reward.

RISE THROUGH THE RANKS OF THE Z-A ROYALE
You’re invited to join the Z-A Royale, a competition for Pokémon Trainers to test their skills and determine who’s strongest.

Each night, a battle zone for the competition will appear. Prepare yourself by spending the day in wild zones, catching and training Pokémon, then venture into the battle zone and take on other Trainers.

Be strategic and complete bonus card challenges as you battle to speed up your climb from Rank Z to Rank A. Can you climb the ranks and reach the top?

WELCOME TO LUMIOSE CITY
Visit shops, restaurants, and more, all centered around Prism Tower. An urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon.
