Summary

  • Fire Cadet Pokemon, Charcadet, has the evolutions, Armorouge and Ceruledge, with different types and stats based on exposure to specific items.
  • A fan artist, ComprehensiveArmy711, designed a third evolution, Verdestral, inspired by the Arthurian poem "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight."
  • Verdestral is a Fire and Dark type with high attack stats, but vulnerable to Water and Fighting attacks in battles with fast Pokemon.

A Pokemon fan artist designed a new evolutionary form of the fiery critter Charcadet and posted about the inspirations they chose for their creation's name and design. The Pokemon fan artist then shared their handiwork on social media and gave a glimpse at the statistics behind their Charcadet evolution.

Known as the Fire Cadet Pokemon, Charcadet is a Fire-type creature that debuted in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Charcadet is one of a few Pokemon with split evolution paths based on the items that it is exposed to. These forms, Armorouge and Ceruledge, have different types and main statistics. Charcadet will evolve into the Fire and Psychic Armorouge when exposed to Auspicious Armor, or the Fire and Ghost Ceruledge by using Malicious Armor instead. The former item can be found in Pokemon Scarlet, while the latter can be earned in Pokemon Violet. Charcadet can be found in various open areas of the Paldea region and both its evolutions can be caught in Tera Raid dens.

Pokemon Developer Game Freak Ramping Up Hiring

Beloved Pokemon developer Game Freak is reportedly ramping up its hiring process in the coming weeks, looking to fill several positions.

Though Charcadet and its evolutions have had fan art tributes before, one Pokemon trainer gave their take on a third Charcadet evolution. A Reddit user named ComprehensiveArmy711 shared a picture of a new evolution for Charcadet on the r/pokemon subreddit, and dubbed their creation Verdestral, the Fire Knight Pokemon. ComprehensiveArmy711 said that Verdestral was inspired by the Arthurian poem, "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight." Verdestral's armor was colored green, and its hands were replaced with single-edged axe blades. According to the screenshot, the name Verdestral is a combination of two Spanish words; verde (green) and destral (hatchet). To evolve a Charcadet into a Verdestal, ComprehensiveArmy711 created a new item called the Vainglorious Armor that would be used on a Charcadet.

Pokemon Fan Designs Green-Armored Charcadet Evolution

Verdestral was designed as a Fire and Dark dual-type monster, which is shared with competitive Pokemon like Incineroar. In a Pokemon battle, Verdestral was granted 110 base physical attack and special attack statistics, followed by 90 base speed. Ergo, Verdestral would be a mixed sweeper with a distinct advantage over both Armorouge and Ceruledge due to the Dark type being super-effective against both Psychic and Ghost Pokemon. However, its weaker defenses would leave Verdestral prone to Water and Fighting attacks from fast Pokemon such as Greninja or Quaquaval. ComprehensiveArmy711 posted no abilities or moves that Verdestral could have.

While Pokemon trainers have used creatures like Ceruledge in some competitions, ComprehensiveArmy711's creation would put up quite a fight. With Pokemon Legends: Z-A in development, only time will tell if Charcadet will get more evolutions in future games.
