A Pokemon fan artist has recently created six alternative horror-themed forms for Bulbasaur, coming up with incredibly creative results. Bulbasaur is a popular creature and is often reimagined in Pokemon fan art, but these recent designs stand out due to the unique forms they turn the popular critter into.
Originally introduced in the first generation of Pokemon games, Bulbasaur is the first Grass-type starter of the franchise. Designed as some kind of reptilian creature with green skin and a bulb on its back, Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur after reaching at least Level 16, and then into Venusaur starting at Level 32. At high levels, a well-trained Bulbasaur can learn powerful Grass-type moves such as Power Whip and Solar Beam.
Pokemon Fan Designs Regional Variants for Legends: Z-A Starters
A talented artist devises regional variants for the starters of the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A, redesigning Meganium, Emboar, and Feraligatr.
Now, a Pokemon fan called Oddarette has designed six amazing artworks transforming Bulbasaur into horror-inspired creatures using parts of the human body such as teeth, brains, eyes, hearts, blood, and guts. Each design was adorable, despite the horror theme, due to the cute way each one was drawn. One Bulbasaur had pink skin, a big, open mouth, and a huge tooth on its back, while another had blue skin and its bulb was transparent, with a brain inside. Another artwork had a green Bulbasaur with a huge eye on its back, while others turned it into a red, fierce monster with a pumping heart or a pale Pokemon with blood inside its bulb. The sixth design had a Bulbasaur without skin, showing only its muscle. The post was very popular with the community, and it has already obtained over 2,200 upvotes.
Pokemon Fan Designs Six Horror-Themed Versions of Bulbasaur
Oddarette is not the only fan creating innovative forms for Bulbasaur recently. Earlier this week, another fan created space-themed Bulbasaur designs. In this artwork, the Grass-type Pokemon was reimagined as having different kinds of spacial elements on its back, such as a black hole or a supernova.
Overall, horror-themed versions of Pokemon are not unusual. Last year, for example, one fan created a terrifying version of Orthworm, a Steel-type critter originally introduced in Gen 9. In this design, the creature was depicted as a gigantic underground monster with long, blue arms.
Works such as these show how creative the community is when reimaging famous designs with completely innovative ideas. Hopefully, more fans will come up with new versions of popular Grass-type Pokemon in the future, reimagining other monsters from the franchise, as these artworks are often popular with fans.
