A talented Pokemon fan has created a 3D printed Mew inspired by the Ancient Mew trading card. The Ancient Mew card was first introduced alongside the second Pokemon movie, Pokemon the Movie 2000: The Power of One. It was given out during the initial theatrical run of the movie alongside the purchase of a ticket.
Mew is the very first mythic Pokemon being introduced all the way back in generation one. In Pokemon Red and Blue, the player can find journals in the Pokemon Mansion detailing the discovery of the creature and the subsequent cloning of it that led to the creation of Mewtwo. Mew is often considered to be the first Pokemon that all other Pokemon evolved from. As the progenitor of all Pokemon, Mew is capable of learning nearly every move and transforming into any other Pokemon.
Pokemon Fan Successfully Gets 1997 Mew All the Way to Scarlet and Violet
A dedicated Pokemon fan uses a complex method to bring the rare Mew from a special Nintendo event in 1997 into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Reddit user Scalariform has taken to the Pokemon subreddit to share their 3D printed rendition of the mythical creature. The model captures the creature's mysterious nature through its shining design and hieroglyphic appearance, staying true to Mew's notoriety as a beacon of myths in the Pokemon community. It is painted to appear holographic, just like the card that inspired it. Scalariform adapted their holographic Mew from a 3D model of the card created by kiophen on Sketchfab. They added an outer edge to the model in order to paint the outside of it gold. They also slightly changed the stance Mew is in to make it stand upright.
The Original Mythical
As one of the original 151 Pokemon, Mew has become extremely popular with longtime fans. Mew was notoriously difficult to obtain when it was first introduced, adding to its appeal. In the first generation of Pokemon, players couldn't even get Mew in the game. Players had to travel to a Mew giveaway event to get the creature, a theme that Game Freak would continue with future mythical Pokemon. Even the Ancient Mew card was difficult to get, only being available alongside a movie ticket while supplies lasted.
Mew is much easier to get in modern games. Game Freak gave out codes to get the mythical creature in Scarlet and Violet without leaving their homes. Mew has also been available for trainers to catch via Tera Raids. In Sword and Shield, players didn't even need events to catch Mew. By doing Dynamax Adventures in the Crown Tundra DLC, players can get nearly every legendary Pokemon with ease. Although the days of Mew being a rarity are gone, the memories players have trying to push the truck outside of S.S. Anne will likely never be forgotten, and Mew's popularity will live on.
