This PlayStation State of Play Will Feature News and Updates From Over 20 Titles

While not much has been outright confirmed about the upcoming State of Play, Sony has at least made it clear that the event will feature news and updates from over 20 titles. In light of that number and the event's runtime of just over half an hour, that gives each title an average of a little under two minutes to show itself, so it could very well be a showcase filled with teaser trailers and brief snippets of gameplay. Sony has also confirmed that the State of Play's 20 titles will be "upcoming PS5 and PS VR2 games from studios around the world," so VR players will be able to get in on the action as well.

Extensive PlayStation 5 Pro Coverage Is Highly Unlikely

Given the lackluster reception of the PS5 Pro reveal thanks to its hefty price, it's unlikely the State of Play will attempt to show it off anymore. That being said, news of other games receiving the PS5 Pro enhancement treatment may be disclosed — a list that Sony has already confirmed currently numbers around 50. It's still most likely to be something merely mentioned rather than zeroed in on, however, as Sony may justifiably wish not to stir up more controversy than is necessary at the moment.

PlayStation's State of Play Is Drowning in Rumors

While every PlayStation State of Play has its merits, this particular State of Play is highly anticipated due to the rumors that surround it. The most prominent rumor likely stems from and is fueled by intense excitement, as Ghost of Tsushima's sequel has yet to show itself in any way. Ghost of Tsushima 2 has been at the forefront of PlayStation rumors and leaks for quite some time now, with none of them ever turning out to be true, despite the numerous opportunities the sequel has had for a reveal. However, now that PlayStation's April 2025 timegate on existing first-party franchises is quickly approaching, this State of Play may indeed finally give fans the Ghost of Tsushima 2 reveal they've been waiting for.

Other rumors about the upcoming PlayStation State of Play include a possible Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, which may be a fairly divisive move due to the game's current visuals on PC and its now-enhanced visuals on the PS4. If Guerilla Games hopes to appease its fans, the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster might need to be more than a mere graphics overhaul and include various quality-of-life features currently only present in Horizon Forbidden West. Even more Horizon is rumored for the State of Play with a possible showcase of Lego Horizon Adventures, the Lego version of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Finally, rumors of a possible Until Dawn remake appearance, as well as remasters of Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2, currently surround the upcoming State of Play — all to be taken with a grain of salt, of course. Anything else is currently as unclear as each of these rumors, but the State of Play nonetheless remains highly anticipated by fans who have been awaiting news of some of their favorite PlayStation franchises.
