Sony has just announced a new 27" gaming monitor designed by PlayStation and made specifically with the PlayStation 5 in mind. This announcement came towards the end of Sony's November State of Play, which delivered around 40 minutes of PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4-related reveals.

Sony's State of Play Japan focused on games coming from Japanese and Asian studios, such as Arc System Works, Bandai Namco, and Koei Tecmo. Some of the biggest highlights from the most recent State of Play were the announcement of major Elden Ring Nightreign DLC, the reveal of Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls' next closed beta dates, and the confirmation that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake launches on March 12, 2026.

PlayStation Is Releasing a 27" Monitor With Built-In PS5 Features

During the Sony State of Play Japan, PlayStation announced a 27" gaming monitor that comes with a built-in DualSense charging hook. This DualSense/DualSense Edge charging hook is located at the back of the monitor next to its cable ports, and it can be rotated and stowed out of sight when not in use.

This official PlayStation-made monitor will feature a Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS display that offers a resolution up to 2560 x 1440. The monitor comes with Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which adjusts the screen's HDR settings automatically when starting a game via PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Pro, and it also has a 240hz refresh rate and VRR support. That all said, these features are only available with supported games and compatible devices. For instance, while connected to a base PlayStation 5 console, this monitor will only have a maximum refresh rate of 120hz.

At the back of the PlayStation monitor, users can expect to find two HDMI IN ports (Version 2.1), which both support up to 2560 x 1440 resolution, 240hz refresh rate, FRL, and VRR. Next to them is one DisplayPort IN, which supports up to 2560 x 1440 resolution, 240hz, and DSC. This monitor also features two USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port, along with built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio output.

According to the PlayStation Blog, this official PlayStation monitor is set to launch in 2026 in both the United States and Japan, though Sony has not officially revealed its retail price yet. Similar monitors, such as the Samsung Odyssey G6, usually retail for around $300–400, while those with the same general specs but an OLED screen typically retail for around $500–700. But as always, fans will have to wait for Sony to make an official announcement before a price is set in stone.
