A Concord-related announcement is on the horizon, a reliable industry insider has said. According to their information, the upcoming PlayStation console exclusive may at last be treated to a gameplay reveal by early June.
Concord is a PvP shooter for the PS5 and PC that has been in development since 2018. It is the debut title from Firewalk Studios, a Bellevue, Washington-based company comprised of former Activision and Bungie staffers, among others. Its existence was first confirmed in April 2021, when PlayStation joined the project in a publisher capacity. Two years later, Sony acquired Firewalk for an undisclosed sum, which is at the very least assumed to be in the ballpark of the $250 million that the studio raised in a preferred Series A funding round in 2022. Concord has been treated to a 51-second video teaser at the May 2024 PlayStation Showcase, but there has been no official news about the game ever since.

Concord Gameplay Reveal May Arrive by June 7
That period of radio silence may finally be coming to an end, with Dealabs' Billbil-kun reporting that some kind of announcement, presumably one containing a gameplay reveal, is drawing near. Specifically, the industry insider estimates that more official Concord news will arrive within the next 15 days, so no later than June 7. While that happens to be the date when Summer Game Fest 2024 kicks off, Billbil-kun says they don't know whether Concord will actually be part of the next SGF lineup.
With the multiplayer shooter being a first-party game, it wouldn't be out of character for Sony to save its long-awaited gameplay reveal for one of its own events. The company recently hinted at a May 2024 PlayStation Showcase being in the works, but no such broadcast has been officially announced as of today, eight days before month's end.
Irrespective of its reveal venue, there is little doubt that Concord will be showcasing its gameplay in the near future. That's largely because the PlayStation console exclusive has just been reaffirmed for a 2024 release in mid-May. With the year almost being halfway over, Sony will need to reveal the game soon if it's to have any hope of running a successful marketing campaign.
Early hype will be particularly important for Concord in light of the fact that Firewalk's debut title is a live-service game, whose future will hence hinge on maintaining a healthy player community. Given the game's recently reaffirmed launch window, it's plausible that its gameplay reveal will also be accompanied by a release date.
