PlayStation has unveiled a brand-new DualSense wireless controller inspired by the upcoming action platforming game Astro Bot, giving fans a new device to add to their collections this September. Astro Bot is the sequel to the hit title Astro's Playroom and will offer fans a much larger journey with PlayStation's adorable robot mascot, Astro.

First announced at the May 2024 State of Play, Astro Bot will see players take on the role of Astro once again as he journeys across colorful planets in search of his missing friends. The platformer is set to launch on September 6, and a limited edition controller will give players the chance to play in style.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of Astro Bot, PlayStation has revealed a limited edition DualSense wireless controller themed after the titular character. The white controller features Astro's signature blue accents along with two bright eyes on the touchpad. One of the core game mechanics of Astro Bot is the utilization of the controller's haptic feedback, and this new limited edition controller will take full advantage of these capabilities. The controller will allow players to feel textures, such as sand and water, as Astro interacts with them. Adaptive triggers tied directly to Astro's powers and the blows felt during boss fights will also be output by the new controller, allowing for an even wider range of sensations for players to experience. Fans can pick up the new PlayStation DualSense wireless controller along with Astro Bot on September 6.

Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller

Pre-orders for the Astro Bot Limited Edition Controller will open on August 9, with players able to order directly from PlayStation or select retailers. The Astro Bot controller, which will only be available in limited quantities, retails at $79.99 and also releases on September 6. Along with its haptic feedback uses the Astro Bot controller will also fully utilize motion controls and adaptive triggers when Astro is using his Dual Speeder controller ship. Team Asobi and Sony Interactive Entertainment are said to have been working on this controller "for some time," and fan requests for an Astro Bot controller have finally been answered.

Recent first-party PlayStation games have performed incredibly well, with titles like Spider-Man 2 and Ghost of Tsushima ranking among the most popular offerings on PlayStation consoles. With the hype for Astro Bot already astronomically high, interested fans may want to prepare for the release of the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller in September.
