Sony has announced a new photography book and limited-edition sneakers themed around PlayStation's 30th anniversary. The PlayStation 30th anniversary sneakers will launch in the coming weeks, while the photography book is set to go on sale next year.
2024 marked precisely three decades since the PS1 launched and established the PlayStation brand as a formidable force in the games industry. To celebrate the occasion, Sony launched a limited-run line of PS5 consoles decked out in the PS1's iconic light gray color scheme, complete with DualSense controllers that sported colorful buttons. Expectedly, the PS5 30th anniversary collection was a big hit with fans and sold out almost instantly.

New PlayStation 30th Anniversary Merch Includes a Photo Book and PS1-Themed Sneakers
A limited restock of the PS5 30th anniversary hardware was announced a few months ago for players who missed out on snagging them the first time. Sony has now pulled the covers off a couple of new 30th anniversary memorabilia. The first of these is PlayStation: The First 30 Years, a 400-page photography book that will cost $125 and offer a look at unseen prototypes and concept drawings of PlayStation consoles throughout the years. Pre-orders for PlayStation: The First 30 Years are now live, with the book scheduled to release in spring 2026. A $325 Deluxe Edition of the book that includes a clamshell presentation box, exposed binding, and exclusive prints is also on offer, though it's limited to 1,994 units.
Additionally, Sony is teaming up with Reebok for a limited run of PS1-themed sneaker designs. That means they're adorned with the PS1's aforementioned light gray theme, along with colorful PlayStation motifs and unique packaging that echoes the console. Depending on the region of purchase, three versions of these PlayStation 30th anniversary sneakers will be available: Pump Omni Zone 2 for the US ($220), InstaPump Fury 94 for Japan (¥37,000), and Workout Plus for the UK (£150). Those interested in the PlayStation-branded sneakers don't have to wait that long either, as they're planned to be available at select retailers in mid-October 2025.
Though unexpected, these new PlayStation 30th anniversary collector's items will likely appeal to devout fans of the brand, and it remains to be seen if Sony has even more celebratory merch up its sleeve. The past week has been rather eventful for PlayStation fans too, with the latest September State of Play notably showing off Saros gameplay and a fresh look at Insomniac's long-awaited Wolverine game — confirmed to launch in fall 2026.
