Persona 6 news could still be on the way, according to the site description for the Persona series' 30th anniversary website. While Persona 6 has not officially been revealed by Sega and Atlus as of this writing, a description found when searching for the Persona 30th anniversary website encouraged fans to celebrate the franchise's journey as it ushers in its next chapter.
Originally marketed as a spinoff to the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, the Persona series has become widely known for its high school aesthetic mixed in with turn-based combat that features the titular Personas in action. The Persona franchise also uses social interactions and character relationships to give players some degree of control over a few facets of the main story. The franchise gained popularity outside Japan following the launches of Persona 4 in 2008 and Persona 5 in 2016. The Persona series joins other major series like Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot, and Pokemon in observing 30 years as a media franchise throughout 2026.

Persona Anniversary Site Description Leaves a Potential Clue
Although Persona's 30th anniversary reveals have left fans wanting more information about the series' future, a discovery on social media may lend credence to the notion that the game's sixth mainline entry could be revealed this year. As spotted by Twitter user ScrambledFaz, a sentence taken from the website description for Persona's 30th anniversary festivities read, "Come celebrate the journey as we usher in the next chapter of the series." However, the description only appears when searching for Sega Asia's version of the Persona 30th anniversary website, and only appears in the site's Google description. The website description was posted on January 8, the same day as the anniversary stream.
However, fans were disappointed to find out that there were no new game announcements revealed during the January 8 Persona anniversary stream. Instead, several pieces of merchandise were shown off by Atlus during the broadcast, including various promotions with Japanese retailers and a special collaboration project with Sanrio. Although the Persona x Sanrio project was well-received by fans of both franchises, the lack of any news about Persona 4 Revival or Persona 6 left a bitter taste in fans' mouths. Persona series producer Kazuhisa Wada thanked fans for their continued support of the series, but left no other clues about Persona's next game developments. Although Persona 4 Revival was revealed during June 2025's Xbox Games Showcase, no other evidence about the game has turned up since.
Persona Fans Should Not Give Up Hope Yet
That stated, the actual date of the Persona series' 30th birthday is September 30, which marks when Revelations: Persona was first released on the PlayStation in Japan in 1996. Revelations: Persona made its way to North America just a few months later, in December 1996. Coupled with leaks and rumors that Persona 6 is not in development hell, the lack of official news from the Persona 30th anniversary stream is not the only opportunity that Atlus has to reveal more information. Events like Summer Game Fest 2026 and the 2026 Tokyo Game Show could be potential windows for Atlus and Sega to take advantage of.
However, fans looking to hear more news about the Persona series in January may still be out of luck. Although an Xbox Developer Direct is scheduled to air on January 22, the broadcast will be focused on Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Beast of Reincarnation, and a smaller first-party title from one of Xbox Game Studios' development teams. Although the Persona franchise has shown off content at Xbox events before, the fact that Microsoft has all but confirmed the schedule for it's January broadcast has left little to no room for Atlus. Only time will tell when Persona will share more concrete information about it's ongoing game development cycle.
