A new leak suggests that two fan-favorite characters could be coming to Persona 5 Tactica as post-launch DLC. The original Persona 5 was a smash hit when it first launched on the PlayStation 4 in 2016, captivating players with the story of a dashing band of teenage rebels out to rid the world of corruption one dungeon at a time. An updated re-release titled Persona 5 Royal came in 2019, and the saga of the Phantom Thieves continued in a handful of spinoff games. The latest of these was Persona 5: The Phantom X, a free-to-play mobile RPG that ran an open beta in China earlier this year.The Phantom Thieves aren’t slowing down anytime soon either, as yet another Persona 5 spin-off was recently announced by Atlus earlier this month. Titled Persona 5 Tactica, this new game looks to combine the Chibi-like visual style of the Persona Q series with the turn-based tactical gameplay of Fire Emblem as the Phantom Thieves are whisked to a strange, medieval world under the control of a sinister army. All the base party members fans know and love from the original Persona 5 are present and accounted for in Persona 5 Tactica, along with a mysterious new ally named Erina. The number of Phantom Thieves in Persona 5 Tactica may grow after the game launches this November, as a Twitter user by the handle of MbKKssTBhz5 recently posted artwork supposedly featuring two upcoming DLC characters: Kasumi Yoshizawa and Goro Akechi. According to the post, these characters will be available in a DLC pack titled “Repaint Your Heart.” While this hasn’t been verified yet, the image indeed matches the art style of Persona 5 Tactica, and the leaker who posted it had previously shared details about Persona 3 Reloaded before it was announced alongside Tactica a few weeks ago.
Goro and Kasumi should be familiar to die-hard Persona 5 fans. Goro Akechi was a charismatic teen detective who investigated the Phantom Thieves in their initial adventure, and temporarily joined the group toward the end of Persona 5. Meanwhile, Kasumi Yoshizawa was introduced as a supporting character with her own plotline in the updated Persona 5 Royal and played a major role in the game's additional final act.
Given how significant both of these characters are in the popular Persona 5 universe, it might not come as a surprise that Goro and Kasumi are rumored to be DLC characters for Persona 5 Tactica. Of course, it’s worth repeating that this DLC pack hasn’t been officially confirmed, so fans should stay weary until Atlus makes a more concrete announcement about any post-launch content for the newest Persona 5 spin-off.
Persona 5 Tactica will launch on November 17 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
