The Persona 5 Royal DLC Pack is currently free for grabs on the PlayStation Store, with some players being able to claim it even if they don't own the actual game. This unexpected discount arrives shortly after Atlus announced that Persona 5 is getting a brand-new spinoff game.

The DLC Pack for the hit JRPG is only available for the PS4 version of Persona 5 Royal, as the PS5 port is already pre-bundled with all of its extras. That said, original Persona 5 Royal owners still have to pay full price for the PS5 upgrade. The contents of the pack itself encompass a bunch of costumes and music inspired by all entries in the long-running franchise.

While Atlus is no stranger to Sony collaborations, as evidenced by the fact that Persona 5 has been part of the PlayStation Plus catalog for over a year, this newly introduced deal still raised some questions among the fandom. Namely, the Persona 5 Royal DLC Pack is currently only free on the European version of the PlayStation Store, and the deal itself hasn't been officially announced by Atlus, Sega, or Sony. This left some fans wondering whether the listing itself is a result of an error instead of some low-key promo.

Persona 5 Royal DLC Pack PlayStation Store Free add to library

Either way, the Persona 5 Royal DLC Pack can currently be claimed by any PlayStation Store user in Europe, even those who don't own the game itself. But due to the aforementioned fact that the PS5 version of Persona 5 Royal already includes all of its bonus contents, taking advantage of this 100% discount primarily makes sense for people who already own the original version of the game or plan on buying it in the future. For maximum clarity, this DLC is incompatible with the PS4 version of vanilla Persona 5.

Atlus recently tried reinvigorating the game's PlayStation sales by introducing a Persona 5 Royal trial for PS Plus Premium subscribers, although that offer remains limited to PS5 owners. Apart from the contents of this newly discounted DLC Pack, the main difference between the PS4 and PS5 versions of Persona 5 Royal is that the current-generation upgrade offers native 4K gameplay in 60 frames per second, as compared to 1080p graphics (upscaled to 4K on the PS4 Pro) running at 30fps. The PS5 also offers faster loading times on account of having an SSD.

Persona 5 Royal is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
