In the Persona 5 Royal rerelease, Atlus adds two new confidants, both of which have major roles to play during the optional third semester. One of these confidants is Kasumi Yoshizawa, who uses the Faith Arcana and shows up in events throughout the regular school year.
As a new character, Yoshizawa has little to do with the main plot, and players don't need to advance her confidant rank to unlock the third semester. However, her confidant abilities are some of the best Persona 5 Royal has to offer, and Joker must spend time with her during the regular year to unlock her full potential.
General Information
The Faith Arcana is an alternative card found in one of the Visconti-Sforza Tarot sets. The historical card has no number on it, and it depicts a female religious figure standing on a stage in front of a bowing king. As Faith, the card represents trust in religion, science, or other people, but in reverse it can mean blind faith or faith in false idols. Yoshizawa's Persona is Cendrillon, a French version of the name Cinderella.
Players looking to rank up the Faith confidant will have trouble pinning down her schedule. Her free days tend to be random and rare, but her most consistent days are Wednesday and Thursday. Players should prioritize Faith ranks when Yoshizawa texts Joker, but even on days when she doesn't players can sometimes find her near the Promenade in Kichijoji. When the rest of her ranks unlock in January, she's available on most weekdays.
Joker can hang out with Yoshizawa if he doesn't have enough relationship points to rank up, or after reaching the temporary rank cap of 5. By taking her to the Shinegawa aquarium, Joker can get the Sea Slug Doll, a room decoration. Joker can also give her gifts on these outings, and her favorites are the Heart Ring, Luxury Aroma Set, Crimson Lipstick, Mini Cactus, Bath of Roses, and Face Beautifier.
Yoshizawa is also a love interest. Her upper ranks don't unlock until after Christmas Eve, but Joker can spend time with her on Valentine's Day to get her chocolate item and go on a date with her on White Day.
Rank 1
Players get the first Faith rank automatically. On 5/30, Joker goes to Inokashira Park along with the rest of Shujin Academy, and along the way he saves Yoshizawa from a harassing old man. The two get to talking in the park and Joker gets Faith 1. This rank doesn't include any rewards or relationship points.
Rank 2
Rank 2 covers Joker's introduction to the world of gymnastics and Yoshizawa's slump issues. The numbers listed below assume that players have a Faith Persona in stock and are getting the same-Arcana bonus.

Along with another +5 HP, this rank gives Joker Chaines Hook. If Joker isn't currently hiding, he can use his grappling hook to ambush a distant Shadow Guard. Doing this will cause some or all of the Shadows to start the combat with a random status ailment. Joker can use Chaines Hook on red Savage Shadows, but they never start with an ailment.

Rank 6
If players reach rank 5 during the regular game and unlock the third semester, ranks 6-10 will become available during January. The main story will proceed the same regardless, but this gives players a chance to see more of Yoshizawa's story and get her the same party abilities as the regular Phantom Thieves. Most of the dialog choices of this event provide no relationship points, aside from the last option:
- Do you want to run away? 0
- You have to face it. 3
- So what if it is? 3
Yoshizawa is catching up to the other party members, so this rank provides +5 HP, her Follow Up attack, and Fitness Talk, which lets Joker have a second chance to convince any kind of Shadow to join him.
Rank 7
Yoshizawa decides to bring Joker to the gym, where he meets her coach.
- Maybe. 0
- Who knows? 0

Rank 7 comes with another +5 HP and Harisen Recovery. On her turn, Yoshizawa has a chance to end a status ailment affecting another party member.

No HP reward with this rank, but Yoshizawa gets Endure. Instead of dropping from a fatal attack, she has a chance to survive with 1 HP.
Rank 9
Yoshizawa decides to keep looking forward, but she isn't sure what to do with her feelings for Joker.
- It's no problem. 3
- We'll call it holiday hours. 3

- I didn't do much. 0
- I'll always have your back. 3
If players are on the romance path:
- Calm down. 3
- Take your time. 3
- So? Any different? 3
- You are so red right now. 3
- You're so cute. 3
- Get used to it. 3
- Should I hang up...? 0
- That's just how it is. 0
This rank gives Yoshizawa Protect. If Joker would drop from a single-target attack, she has a chance to jump in the way and take the damage instead.
Rank 10
On either path, Yoshizawa demonstrates her new gymnastics routine to Joker and her coach. Relationship points no longer matter, and players will get the same amount from any choice they make.
For reaching rank 10, Yoshizawa goes through a Second Awakening. Cendrillon becomes Vanadis, an alternate name of the Norse goddess Freya. Vanadis nulls Bless damage and gets the skill Evade Curse. For his part, Joker gets access to Maria, the final Faith Persona.
Rank 11
If players reach Faith 10, Yoshizawa will ask to spend time with Joker on 2/2. This is the player's only opportunity to see this event and activate her Third Awakening. Vanadis becomes Ella, the true name of Cinderella (cinder-Ella). Her Veil of Midnight trait becomes Veil of Sunrise, which makes it almost impossible for an ally to be Downed by a weakness or a critical hit. She also gets the skill Masquerade, a Physical attack that deals severe damage to one foe twice.
Unfortunately, while players may see Yoshizawa on 3/19, they won't get an item to carry into a New Game Plus. This means Joker will need to earn all her confidant abilities the hard way in every playthrough.
Persona 5 Royal is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
