Atlus has released plenty of Persona 5 spin-offs over the last few years, but there's yet another entry in the series, Persona 5: The Phantom X, that's coming out in the near future. Unlike any of its predecessors, Persona 5: The Phantom X is a mobile gacha game that adapts the traditional Persona experience into a free-to-play format. The game was released quite some time ago in select Asian regions, like China, South Korea, and Taiwan, but it hasn't been translated to English yet. Fortunately, the game will be heading to the West sooner rather than later.
During a recent broadcast hosted by the Japanese voice cast of the game, Atlus confirmed that Persona 5: The Phantom X will be released worldwide for PC, iOS, and Android on June 26, 2025. Although the game won't be available in certain territories, like Southeast Asia, it will be playable in most Western countries, as well as Japan. The international release of Persona 5: Persona X will seemingly include most of the post-launch content that has been added to the Chinese version of the game. Surprisingly, though, it will not feature an English dub, despite it being a staple of the Persona series.

Persona 5: The Phantom X Will Not Have an English Dub
English Dubs Have Gotten a Bad Rap, But the Persona Series' English Voicework Has Been Consistently Good
The debate between subs and dubs has been a contentious topic in the anime and video game communities since the dawn of the internet. Although some people prefer to experience entertainment with English voice acting whenever possible, others like to watch shows and play video games in their native languages. The preference to use subtitles over dubs is, frankly, pretty understandable. In the early days of the gaming industry, English dubs were often quite bad, especially for games made in Japan. However, the quality of video game voice acting has improved drastically over the years.
Even though Persona is almost 30 years old, the series' English dubs have been consistently high-quality, perhaps more so than most JRPGs. Dubs have been present in the Persona franchise since its very first installment, 1996's Revelations: Persona. Although that game's English dub was relatively limited, later entries in the series, like Persona 3 and 4, had far more voice acting in them. The most recognizable voice cast in the Persona franchise, though, arguably belongs to Persona 5.
Although P5X Has a New Cast of Characters, the English VAs from Persona 5 Could've Made a Return
Released internationally on the PS4 in 2017, Persona 5 propelled the Persona series to new heights, and it became the most successful entry in the franchise to date. Atlus capitalized on the popularity of Persona 5 by launching several new Persona installments that featured the JRPG's cast of characters, almost all of which (aside from Persona Q2) received full English dubs. With this in mind, the lack of an English dub in Persona 5: The Phantom X is a tad strange.
Although Persona 5: The Phantom X is set in an alternate universe and primarily has a new cast of characters, the main protagonists of Persona 5, the Phantom Thieves, do appear in the game. If an English dub for the game was ever made, it would have to feature new voice actors. However, there would still be some returning cast members in the dub, so Atlus wouldn't have to find new talent for every character in the game. While it is possible that the company will add English voice acting to Persona 5: The Phantom X in a future update, the decision to not include it at launch is somewhat disappointing, as it could drive some players away from the game.
