Persona 5 is a sprawling JRPG filled with friends to interact with, Palaces to conquer, and Treasure Demons to capture. While exploring the game's many areas, players will come across locked chests that require a lockpick to open. Farming Liquid Mercury and crafting the Eternal Lockpick to open all these chests is essential to equipping the best gear in the game. But finding and farming liquid mercury is easier said than done.

Thankfully, there are some methods players can use to snag a lot of Liquid Mercury in a fairly short period of time. Here's a look at some ways to grab this useful material and some of the most efficient farming methods.

What is Liquid Mercury Needed For?

Liquid Mercury is a crafting material, and its only use in Persona 5 is to help make the Eternal Lockpick. Players will need 10 Liquid Mercury to help craft this useful item that never breaks. This means that after making this handy tool, players will never have to waste days crafting lockpicks ever again. This frees up a lot of time that can be spent in better ways, like hanging out with Ann.

Quickest and Best Place To Farm Liquid Mercury

There are only a few enemies that have the potential to drop Liquid Mercury: Anubis, Decarabia, Ganesha, and Garuda. Out of these 4, Anubis seems to have the best drop rate. This enemy is first encountered while exploring Futaba’s Palace. The material can be farmed from here if players want the Eternal Lockpick as early as possible--but there is another method.

Anubis shadows will appear on the Path of Akzeriyyuth in Mementos. This area of the Metaverse is unlocked on August 30. Levels 10 and 11 have the best chance to trigger the enemy. Exploring the mysterious Mementos when it is raining increases the drop rate of rare items. So, it’s best to plan a trip on a night when it’s going to rain.

Persona 5 Roya l owners cannot use either of these methods to farm Liquid Mercury, because Anubis does not drop the material in this edition of the game. However, they do have an extra advantage that helps make up for this.

Although Anubis is useless to those wanting to craft the Eternal Lockpick in Persona 5 Royal, there is an alternate path that greatly increases item drops.

Royal owners will have to go to the Path of Sheriruth in Mementos and fight Ganesha and Garuda shadows to farm Liquid Mercury. Just like in the regular edition, exploring during bad weather increases the drop rate of rare items. To increase the drop rate of Liquid Mercury even more, make sure to turn in collected stamps to Jose.

After encountering Jose for the first time, he will appear on random floors in Mementos. He has a dedicated cutscene that will activate when players enter a new floor that he is on, and will appear as a gold icon on the minimap when the party is near him.

After finding Jose, give him stamps to increase the number of items found/dropped from enemies. Stamps combined with bad weather significantly raise the chances of finding Liquid Mercury in Persona 5 Royal.
