Voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, known for playing Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4, has hinted at the existence of the game's remake. It's been heavily rumored that Atlus is working on a Persona 4 remake, but the developer has yet to make an official announcement.

First released in 2008, Persona 4 captured the hearts of fans with its compelling story and relatable characters, with critics calling it one of the best games in the franchise. Four years later, an enhanced version was launched titled Persona 4 Golden, which introduced an additional Social Link named Marie of the Aeon Arcana, improved graphics, and other new gameplay features.

Persona 4 Vocalist Sparks Remake Speculation

Some recent activity by a Persona 4 vocalist sparks widespread fan speculation that Atlus is working on a remake of the iconic JRPG.

Following Persona 3 Reload's success, there have been rumors that Atlus is developing a Persona 4 remake with updated graphics and gameplay, on top of the upcoming sixth Persona game. The developer hasn't addressed any of the rumors yet, but Yuri Lowenthal seemingly confirmed that the remake was happening. However, there's a catch. In a Bluesky post, Lowenthal said that he won't be returning as Yosuke in the Persona 4 remake, claiming that Atlus allegedly didn't want him back for the role.

Fans React to Yuri Lowenthal's Persona 4 Remake Post

And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back. — Yuri Lowenthal (@yurilowenthal.bsky.social) 2025-05-28T13:37:47.019Z

In the replies to Lowenthal's post, many fans were surprised by the fact that the Persona 4 remake might actually be happening, and also disappointed that the voice actor wasn't reprising his role. At the same time, some expressed concerns about Lowenthal receiving hate for possibly confirming the existence of the rumored remake.

So far, Atlus still hasn't addressed any of the claims about the rumored Persona 4 remake. However, if what Lowenthal said is true, many believe that it would be a shame not to have Yosuke's original English voice actor return, as longtime fans applauded his performance in the original Persona 4. At the same time, it's also not surprising that Atlus is possibly getting a new cast or recasting certain characters, especially since Persona 3 Reload also has a fresh set of voice actors.

With Persona 6 and the Persona 4 remake rumored to be in Atlus' pipeline, the developer could be gearing up for a big year or two ahead. There's still a lot of mystery surrounding both projects, but there's also a possibility that Atlus might reveal more details during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, so many fans might want to keep their eyes peeled for any important announcements during the presentation.
