Rare Hand Shadows become more and more difficult as you get higher in Tartarus in Persona 3 Reload. Once you've reached the final area, the Adamah Block, you'll have the chance to run into the Greedy Shadow, Final Checkmate. Just like the final boss in the game, this will be the final hand enemy you'll encounter.

Where to Find Final Checkmate in Persona 3 Reload

Just like any other Rare Hand Shadow in Persona 3 Reload, the Final Checkmate enemy will appear randomly on the Adamah Block of Tartarus, from Floors 227 to 255. You'll know you've found a Greedy Shadow, as Fuuka will let you know upon entering the next Floor.

By this point, Fuuka should have the Tartarus Search ability, so you'll no longer have to blindly track down the Final Checkmate. She'll be able to find the enemy for you immediately, so you won't miss the opportunity to pick up a bunch of treasure.

To increase your chances of running into a Greedy Shadow, visit the Fortune Teller in Club Escapade and purchase a Rarity Fortune for 3,000 Yen.

Final Checkmate Weakness in Persona 3 Reload

Image of the weaknesses and resistances of the Final Checkmate enemy in Persona 3 Reload

Once you've caught yourself a Final Checkmate, these are the weaknesses and resistances you'll want to take advantage of:

  • Weak: Pierce

Since Final Checkmate has one weakness that can be exploited, which is Pierce damage, bringing along a team member who has these abilities is incredibly important. You can either bring Aigis along, who has a ton of Pierce attacks, or utilize Yukari's Normal Attack, which deals Pierce damage.

An important thing to keep in mind during this battle is that the Final Checkmate increases its own Agility. To counteract this, you'll want to boost your own party's Speed to match the Final Checkmate. There are a few ways you can do this, with consumables such as Speed Incense being the easiest method. You can also equip some of your characters with Speed accessories, such as the Giga Speed Band or Speed Enhancer.

You'll also want to remember that Greedy Shadows and Rare Shadows have a tendency to run away, so finishing the battle as quickly as possible is the ideal solution. If you have more characters on your team with the Pierce ability, you'll be able to frequently knock down the Final Checkmate and perform an All-Out Attack. This will make it easy to beat the enemy in just a couple of turns.
