Update 4/11: The Battlestar Galactica Deadlock free Steam giveaway has ended. Steam users will need to stay tuned for more opportunities to claim free games on Valve's digital distribution platform.
Original story follows.
For a limited time, Steam users can claim Battlestar Galactica Deadlock for free. PC gamers are treated to free games on a regular basis, though the quality of these games certainly varies. Luckily, Battlestar Galactica Deadlock received mostly positive reviews from critics at the time of its original release, with Steam users giving it "Very Positive" reviews overall with the more recent reviews falling under the "Mostly Positive" category.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is a strategy game where players control Colonial Fleet ships set during the events of the First Cylon War. It's based on the Battlestar Galactica sci-fi franchise, which originated in the 1970s, but is perhaps best known for its 2000s revival. Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is one of the better-received Battlestar Galactica games on the market, so curious fans of the franchise may not want to let this opportunity to get it for free pass them by.
PC gamers can claim Battlestar Galactica Deadlock for free on Steam right now, but they are running out of time to do so. Anyone interested in grabbing Battlestar Galactica Deadlock for their Steam library has until April 9 at 12:00pm CT. At that point, Battlestar Galactica Deadlock will revert to its $40 price tag and Steam users will have to wait for the digital distribution platform to give away its next free game, whenever that may be.
If one is too late to claim Battlestar Galactica Deadlock for free on Steam, the good news is that there should be plenty of other free PC games to claim in the near future. While Steam is inconsistent with free game giveaways, the Epic Games Store gives away free games on a weekly basis. Right now, the Epic Games Store free games are Dying Light Enhanced Edition and Shapez. Next week, Epic Games Store users can look forward to Mordhau and Second Extinction joining the free games lineup.
Other PC digital storefronts give away free games, too, oftentimes to help promote their big sales. While most PC gamers may stick with Steam or the Epic Games Store, GOG gives away free games on occasion as well. For example, to help promote GOG's Spring Sale, the digital storefront gave away multiple games for free, including horror game Lorelai.
There should be many more free game opportunities for PC gamers in the days and weeks ahead, but in the meantime, they should be sure to grab Battlestar Galactica Deadlock while they still can.
