Many gamers are concerned about Payday 3’s requirement to log into a Nebula account to play, which is made even worse by the fact that servers are unstable at the moment. Several fans were eagerly awaiting the release of the successor of one the best games about pulling heists ever made, but Payday 3 has not delivered so far, and this angered its fan base.

Payday 3’s problems started during Early Access when the game’s servers went down many times, matchmaking didn’t work, and several technical issues plagued the game. After the release, the problems didn’t disappear, as many of them are directly linked to the game’s online functionalities, which are still unstable at the moment and are necessary even to access single-player content.

Now, many players on social media are calling out the developers for making Payday 3 an online-only game and requiring people to log in to a profile to play. For instance, a gamer called Trace_Loco called the new heist adventure a disaster on Twitter, claiming that it took a long time before they were able to create an account, and then they simply could not log in to it. On Reddit, another gamer called Porschekid11 complained that Payday 3's online-only stance was harmful to the title, as so far many players were unable to actually log in and be online. The feelings of the community were pretty well summarised by Xeroxeroxero_, who has already gained over 2,200 upvotes by affirming that Payday 3 was a great example of why online-only games are a bad idea.

Unfortunately, even when players can log into their Nebula accounts and play, they still face issues. At the time of this report, the matchmaking in Payday 3 is not working well. Many gamers are finding themselves unable to get into matches, and sometimes the server connections fail and they are logged out during play, which gets in the way of their progress.

Payday 3’s team apologized for the issues on September 22 and claimed that the publisher Starbreeze Studios didn’t expect the online infrastructure of the servers to work this badly. Starbreeze’s CEO Tobias Sjogren stated the developers are working hard to fix all server issues. However, that does not solve the fact that Payday 3 is still online-only, which is one of the main complaints of the player base. At the moment, it remains to be seen whether Starbreeze Studios will change its mind and add a fully offline mode, or if gamers will have to accept the limitations of online-only gaming to play Payday 3.

Payday 3 is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
