Players do not know how to mark guards because they do not unlock the skill tree required to do so. Keeping this in mind, this guide will illustrate how players can mark guards in Payday 3 and provide some useful tips regarding the process.

Marking Guards in Payday 3

Players can mark guards in Payday 3 by following these steps after unlocking the Stealth skill tree:

Players must mark guards by pressing the shout/interact button instead of the use button from Payday 2.
Press the D-pad on a controller or the middle mouse button on a PC to mark a guard.
Once the guard is marked, the character model will have a highlighted outline, allowing players to track them through walls.

It is worth noting there are a couple of things to keep in mind while marking guards:

Players can’t mark guards while facing them.
Players can’t mark every guard in Payday 3, meaning that they must keep track of them by noting their patrolling routes or keeping an ear out for their footsteps.
Players can mark guards through camera feeds or items like the Motion Sensor.
