When playing with multiple people, sometimes it benefits if someone is the support character. In Payday 3, the enemy AI is more challenging, and their specialized units offer far greater difficulty than in previous games. It’s never been more essential for a support class than in Payday 3, and players can find a great many skills that will benefit both themselves and their team to ensure a smooth heist, even if there’s plenty of killing involved.
With the right support build in Payday 3, players might be able to cheat death and slow down the inevitability of entering custody. Players will be able to help their teammates by providing ammo, health, and armor, as long as they bring to the table the right skills to get the job done and ensure that everyone can get their payday.
5 Medic (ACED)
BASIC – You revive teammates 20% faster. Medic Bags you deploy have 2 additional charges.
ACED – When you start reviving a teammate, you gain GRIT. As long as you have GRIT, you take 40% less damage when reviving a teammate.
If things are going south, players are bound to need the help of a medic. Thanks to the Medic skill, players can revive enemies 20% faster, which is a great benefit considering that enemies aren’t just going to stop shooting the player to let them revive their friend. Speed and time are everything in Payday 3, so the faster their friend is up, the better for everyone. (Other than the police.) Players also get 2 additional charges to their Medic Bag, allowing health to flow for all.
With the Aced version of this skill, players can start reviving a teammate to gain GRIT. GRIT will allow players to take 10% less damage for a while, and if players are reviving another whilst GRIT is active, they will take a further 40% reduction to damage, meaning they are reducing their damage input greatly as they put aside their best weapons to revive and save a life.
4 Extra Charge
Medic Bags you deploy have 2 additional charges.
Following into the Medic skill tree, Extra Charge is the third skill players will unlock. It doesn’t provide any benefits other than the fact that the Medic Bag that players bring to the battle will have 2 additional charges. Yet, combined with the Medic skill that is equipped by default in order to have Extra Charge, players will be able to provide some great healing effects.
Extra Charge will allow players to use healing items up to 6 times in one Medic Bag, which is great for the Dallas players out there, as that heister seems infinitely hungry for a Medic Bag.
3 Combat Medic
If you have GRIT, successfully reviving your teammate will give both you and that teammate damage immunity for 5 seconds.
Combat Medic is the fourth skill in the Medic tree, and it’s perhaps one of the best. Players can gain GRIT by reviving their allies, and now with the Combat Medic perk, this GRIT will be converted to give the player and their revived teammate an immunity of 5 seconds against all damage, perfect for those with a shotgun lust.
This is great for players on the move and stuck out in the open, as players will have 5 seconds to ignore all damage sources, and they can either use that to run to cover, escape, or continue fighting against those that dare oppose the heisters of New York City.
2 Ammo Specialist
BASIC – Your reserve ammo capacity is increased by 20%. Ammo bags you deploy have 2 additional charges.
ACED – Whenever you pick up ammo, if your current weapon’s magazine is full, you gain EDGE if you don’t have it.
Another starting skill tree, Ammo Specialist is not only great for keeping the ammo count flowing, but it also gives players 2 additional charges to their deployed Ammo Bags. Support doesn’t just entail health, and players can use Ammo Specialist to make sure that their team is well-kitted with enough ammo for the entire army, as they will be bound to run dry on bullets without an Ammo Specialist.
If players decide to Ace this skill, then they can gain EDGE if they pick up ammo from their dead enemies, but only if their weapon’s magazine is full. This doesn’t benefit the team much, but the fact that they can deal an extra 10% damage with EDGE does make it worth it in some instances.
1 Tank
BASIC – Increase the regeneration speed of your armor chunks by 20%. Your armor bag has 2 additional charges.
ACED – Whenever one of your armor chunks breaks, gain or refresh GRIT.
Sometimes the support character has to stay the safest, and Tank can allow just that, due to the fact that their armor will regenerate 20% quicker than their allies. Players can also bring Armor Bags into the fight, which will have 2 additional charges, greatly benefiting teammates that decide they are fresh out of armor chunks and are in dire need of a refill outside of stealth.
If players Ace this ability, they can gain GRIT, ensuring 10% less damage, but only if an armor chunk has broken. Tank can be great to add an extra layer of defense on players who are trying to revive their allies. With all that armor and GRIT, players will essentially be a walking and healing tank.
