In Pax Dei, you are placed in the medieval era where you begin your journey with nothing but the resources naturally available in the environment. It’s like being a caveman, everything you will have to build from scratch, using resources you can gather from your surroundings.

As such, it is essential to make the most of these resources to craft weapons, armor, and a shelter that will determine your chances of survival. In order to establish a shelter, you will need clay. If you are new to the game and wondering where to look for this valuable asset, this guide will be of great help.

How to Get Clay

Clay is one of the valuable resources in Pax Dei which is used to craft many essential items, such as bricks, walls, stairs, doorways, and more. These items are crucial for building your base, so you will need a substantial amount of clay.

Luckily, unlike some other resources, you can collect Clay without using any tools. To find Clay, look for Clay deposits scattered throughout the world. These deposits usually have a distinctive brown color and a rocky appearance. When you locate a Clay deposit, approach it and interact with it by pressing E to farm the Clay.

Where to Find Clay

Finding clay in Pax Dei can be a bit tricky due to its random spawn locations. However, it is usually found near river banks or nearby water areas. One important thing to keep in mind is that you will usually find it at a fair distance from the shore, not right beside the water. So whenever you are going for Clay, make sure to look out the area slightly away from river banks.

There is a good chance that other players may have already collected Clay from these spots. There won't be any indication that Clay was previously there, so you might pass by multiple spawn points without noticing it. Clay deposits usually re-appear regularly after a few hours, which means you can mine them again and again from the same location.

How to Use Clay

Once you've gathered Clay, you can then use it to craft a variety of items for your survival and progression in the game. Here's a list of a few of these items you can craft using Clay:

  • Basic Forge
  • Brazier
  • Bread Oven
  • Bricks
  • Charcoal Kiln
  • Clay Shingles
  • Cooking Hearth
  • Doorways
  • Flower Pots
  • Foundations
  • Millstone
