At its very core, Path of Exile is a game that's all about looting and character building. You'll get an absolute ton of weapons, armor, and trinkets as you venture around Wraeclast, but you'll rarely ever find the perfect piece of gear you need to upgrade your character.
This is where the player-run economy comes in. Selling plays just as big of a part Path of Exile as looting and fighting do. If you find a unique item that's useless for your build, you might as well profit from it. Selling things to NPCs and other players plays a huge role in your personal in-game growth, especially in the late game. This guide covers the basics of item bartering with vendors as well as the steps you need to take to sell loot in the player market.
How to Sell Items to Vendors
As you may have noticed by now, there is no money in Path of Exile. If you try to sell loot to vendors, they'll offer you bits of scrap and shards in return. While bartering off your items this way is a good means of stocking up on scrolls, you can get more value out of your transactions by offering vendors specific item combinations. This is referred to as the vendor recipe system, and it's one of the most important things to learn as a new player.
Basically, the vendor recipe system lets you craft gear with specific modifiers, such as a pair of boots with a movement speed bonus or a club with enhanced physical damage. You get these by trading specific items to any vendor in Wraeclast. Now, there are way too many recipes to be listed here, but some crucial game ones are as follows:

How to Sell Items to Players
There are a few ways to sell your best items in Path of Exile, and the easiest one is to use a Premium Stash tab. You could always try to find a buyer manually via the official forums or the in-game trading channel, but these can get a bit complicated. To sell items via the Premium Stash, do the following:
- Purchase a Premium Stash tab.
- Head to your Hideout and interact with your stash.
- Right-click on the Premium Stash tab and set it to Public.
You can manually set the prices on each item inside your Premium Stash Tab by right-clicking the item. Also, there are additional options in the Premium Stash tab options that allow you to set how items are priced. Explore the menus and find the settings that work best for you.
Once you place a price on an item in the stash tab, it will automatically get listed on the Path of Exile Trade website. From there, other players will be able to see your listed item. Once you find a buyer, they'll whisper at you in-game, and the two of you can start trading according to the agreed price listed on the website.
