Path of Exile is packed with activities for the player to undertake. Whether following the main quest, diving into side activities, or trying to find the best loot for one's class, there's always something to keep the player occupied. One important skill that players can acquire is capturing beasts.
In Path of Exile, captured beasts can be used as sacrifices in the Menagerie as a crafting requirement. Though the process isn't difficult, it can be confusing for those new to the skill. Here's everything players should know about capturing beasts.
How To Capture A Beast
Whether playing solo or with others, it's to the player's advantage to understand beast capturing. To capture a beast the player needs a net, so the first step is acquiring one. Nets can be acquired as part of normal loot drops, but if the player wants a more reliable acquisition method they can simply purchase nets from Einhar. Once the player has a net in hand, it's time to venture into the wild and find a beast. After locating a beast, move close to it and select a type of net by right-clicking on the desired net. Once the desired net is selected, press the "V" button to throw a net over the beast, capturing it.
Thankfully, identifying beasts is easy. Beasts with a yellow icon have one Bestiary mod, whereas ones with a red icon have two Bestiary mods. Beasts with red icons also have far more health than yellow beasts, as well as health regen, making the capturing process a bit more difficult. Mistaking a difficult beast for an easy one is a quick way to ruin an otherwise good hunt. To ensure their target will be captured, the player will need to whittle the beast's health down to 10-15% before throwing the net.
How Einhar Helps
Players planning on capturing beasts should keep in mind that Einhar is good for more than just selling nets. Einhar can be found in the Forest Encampment, the Menagerie, the Riverways, and Oriath. Zones where Einhar can spawn will contain 3-5 yellow beasts and 1-2 red beasts that the player can capture.
Once the player has brought the beast they wish to capture to low health, Einhar will appear and begin attacking the beast from a distance. Because Einhar is an invulnerable NPC, the player won't have to worry about keeping him alive while capturing the beast, which can be quite helpful for players of certain classes.
Einhar only remains in the area while there are still beasts left to capture. Once the player has captured the final beast, Einhar will leave the area, so the player will have to venture to other parts of the map to continue the hunt. Someone will need to capture more and more beasts to level up Einhar, so Path of Exile players who want to do so have plenty to keep them busy.
Path of Exile is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One.
