Summary

  • The Ranger class in Path of Exile is best suited for quick and agile combat, using evasion to avoid enemy attacks.
  • Players should prioritize wearing light armor that complements the Ranger's skills and focuses on evasion.
  • There are several unique armor pieces, such as the Assassin's Garb and Zodiac Leather, that offer high evasion stats and can enhance the Ranger's gameplay.

The Ranger character class is Path of the Exile's equivalent of the Rogue class. With a starting dexterity skill of 32, this class is best suited to quickly darting in and out of combat or positioning at the rear with a bow to avoid any close entanglements. The former is greatly enhanced by the Ranger's base stat of a 92% chance of hitting on attacks.

As such, the armor that a Ranger ought to be wearing is light and should compliment the fundamental skill of any Ranger: evasion. Players, therefore, ought to know the caliber of armor to work towards and where to find it.

7 Assassin's Garb

Best Base Movement Speed

assassin's garb Path of Exile
  • Evasion: 737-811
  • Required Level: 68
  • Required Dexterity Stat: 183

The Assassin's Garb is one of the few pieces in the entire game with a base stat of +3% movement speed. The majority of armor pieces, evasion pieces included, have a movement speed penalty.

Therefore, this piece will let you evade enemy strikes and spells more easily. Dropping once the player hits the required level, it can be found anywhere or created from a recipe for a randomized piece of armor.

6 Zodiac Leather

Highest Evasion Stat

Armor with spiky headdress Path of exile
  • Evasion: 854-982
  • Required Level: 65
  • Required Dexterity Stat: 197

Among standard evasion armor, the Zodiac Leather offers the highest evasion stat of all. Before making their way into the unique armor variants, players can expect this piece to be the best that Path of Exile has to offer.

It can drop anywhere randomly but if players aren't getting lucky, it can be acquired by all those playing as a Ranger. In Act 10, completing the quest Death and Rebirth will grant the armor piece alongside two others: Blood Raiment and General's Brigandine.

5 The Rat Cage

Strong Evasion Stat and Low Level Requirement

Path of Exile Hooded archer
  • Evasion: 1118-1414
  • Required Level: 56
  • Required Dexterity Stat: 152

A unique variant of the Sharkskin Tunic, the Rat Cage offers a very strong evasion stats bonus whilst also being relatively low in terms of required level and dexterity. In addition to this, it offers a 200-300 bonus to maximum life as well as a 15% bonus to movement speed.

Path Of Exile: Best Unique Shields

Path of Exile players shouldn't hesitate to use these nifty shields against their enemies.

This levels out to an overall 12% buff to movement speed once the standard -3% penalty for wearing a piece of evasion armor is calculated in. Keep a look-out as this item can drop anywhere, or it can be chanced by using the Orb of Chance on a Sharkskin Tunic.

4 The Snowblind Grace

Increased Cold Damage

Hooded armor Path of Exile
  • Evasion: 1537-1964
  • Required Level: 65
  • Required Dexterity Stat: 197

Particularly useful to those yearning for a build that maximizes the Ranger's proficiency for cold damage, Snowblind Grace provides a 50% increase in the effects of the spell Arctic Armor. This spell grants players immunity to being frozen, the chance to chill an opponent who strikes them, as well as leaving behind chilled ground wherever they move. The armor allows the spell to be cast with no reservation.

Unfortunately, this armor cannot be acquired by chance and instead can only be earned by defeating the boss Tul, Creeping Avalanche. In order to find her, head to Tul's Domain in Act 11 and overcome the challenge.

3 Kintsugi

Good Evasion Stat and Fire Resistance

Party led by ranger on hooded armor Path of Exile
  • Evasion: 1548-2106
  • Required Level: 62
  • Required Dexterity Stat: 170

Kintsugi offers very handy benefits to the evasion capabilities of the wearer. This piece grants a 120-160% increase in evasion rating to complement its base evasion stat and a 30-50% increase in fire resistance. Its main feature is its effect on how players will respond to either a successful or unsuccessful attempt to attack an enemy.

Kintsugi gives a 35% reduction in damage if players have not been hit recently and a 100% increase in evasion rating if players have been hit recently. This grants a significant bonus no matter the situation. You'll need to be on the look-out to get access to this bonus, as the armor drops randomly.

2 Queen of the Forest

Excellent For a Well-Rounded Build

Character in robed armor Path of Exile
  • Evasion: 1803-2451
  • Required Level: 59
  • Required Dexterity Stat: 160

The unique piece of Destiny Leather offers a plethora of advantages and bonuses. Some examples are a 200-240% increase in evasion rating, a 60-70 increase in maximum life, increases in fire/cold/lightning damage resistance and a 1% movement speed bonus per 600 evasion rating. This makes the Queen of the Forest a great option for those wanting a well-rounded set of attributes.

Path of Exile Ascendancies
Path Of Exile: Every Ascendancy Ranked From Worst To Best

With 19 Ascendancy classes to pick from, the Path of Exile player base is spoiled for choice. How do the Ascendancies rank from worst to best?

As well as dropping in the world at random, players can also get this armor by collecting 5 Alivia's Grace divination cards. They can be found across the game including in:

  • Ashen Wood
  • Dark Forest
  • Tropical Island

1 Hyrri's Ire

Cold Damage and Duration

Hooded and cloaked character fighting enemies on bridge Path of Exile
  • Evasion: 2049-3142
  • Required Level: 65
  • Required Dexterity Stat: 197

Keeping within the spirit of the Ranger class being associated with the cold, Hyrri's Ire grants a 25% increase in chill duration on enemies and a cold damage bonus to bow attacks between 105 and 200. This is alongside the massive increases in evasion: a 140-220% increase in evasion rating and a 40-50 bonus to players' dexterity stat.

With or without a bow, Hyrri's Ire is the best tool in a Ranger's toolkit in helping them stay away from enemies and their attacks. It can drop anywhere, so players will need to keep a sharp eye to avoid missing it.
