Grinding Gear Games, the developer behind the action RPG Path of Exile 2, is hosting a series of races before the 0.2.0 content update arrives later in March 2025, and there’s an incredible laptop up for grabs as the first-place prize. Path of Exile 2 entered early access back in December 2024, with a full release expected sometime in May 2025, and the game’s frequent content updates are keeping players busy until that anticipated occasion.
Serving as a sequel to the 2013 title of the same name, the isometric dungeon crawler introduced a new system on the back of its predecessor’s foundation, introducing a new skill system with 240 active skill gems and 200 support gems. In Path of Exile 2’s previous 0.1.1d update, the game received the Map Stash tab alongside a variety of bug fixes and performance improvements to enhance gameplay. Now, players have a race in front of them to scoop a major prize for first place.

Announced on Path of Exile’s official website, Path of Exile 2 will begin hosting a series of races starting with the first race on March 2, the second on March 9, and the third on March 16. Designed to introduce a new series of Demigod items as rewards, the races task players with competing to be the first to kill Doryani in Act 3. Path of Exile 2’s upcoming 0.2.0 update teases a host of gameplay changes due to arrive in late March 2025, including using Towers as a central endgame mechanic, and the developer has opened these races up to everyone in the interim.
Path of Exile 2 Pre-0.2.0 Update Races Offer Alienware Laptop as the Main Prize
Path of Exile 2 players could use the promised buffs for strong builds teased in the 0.2.0 update to scoop the key prize for coming first place in the race, which is an Alienware laptop. The custom-decaled laptop from the American computer hardware subsidiary brand of Dell will be awarded to the fastest player in the final race hosted on March 16, and the Demigod’s Virtue Unique item will also be part of the reward for the top placement of each class in the race.
Despite the March update promising a host of exciting changes, some Path of Exile 2 players expect controversy surrounding a change to Towers. The Towers will spawn content such as Ritual and Breach, but could take longer for players to complete, which risks becoming a point of contention. Nevertheless, builds like the Archmage Spark and Acolyte of Chayula could massively benefit from the Derange Support Gem, which may render the upcoming patch a winner in players’ eyes.
