One of the most unusual Uniques players can find in Path of Exile 2 is a body armor called Tabula Rasa. It's the only chest piece in the game that allows Jewels to be placed in its empty sockets instead of Runes.
With the right combination of Jewels and a build that complements it, Tabula Rasa has the potential to be the most game-breaking item in all of PoE 2. Naturally, it's extremely difficult to get it. Here's how.
Path Of Exile 2: Most Expensive Items, Ranked
The following items will fetch a high price in Path of Exile 2.
How to Get Tabula Rasa in PoE 2
Tabula Rasa can be obtained in three main ways in Path of Exile 2.
- Random drop from enemies
-
Using
Orb of Chance
- Trade with other players
Random Drop
Tabula Rasa only has a chance to drop from any enemy in PoE 2. However, the most effective way to farm for this item is in the late endgame. This is because the sheer number of enemies that can spawn in juiced endgame maps is magnitudes more than what is possible in the early game. Of course, players can still get lucky and get a Tabula Rasa at level 10, but that's unlikely to say the least.
Target farming Tabula Rasa—or any Unique for that matter—is not possible. Players can only increase the 'Rarity of Items' and 'Quantity of Items' stats on their Precursor Tablets, Atlas tree, and gear to tilt the odds in their favor.
A Twilight Reliquary Key obtained from a Level 81+ monster has a chance of unlocking a Foiled Tabula Rasa, but this is a lot rarer compared to regular drops.
Orb of Chance
Tabula Rasa can be obtained by using an Orb of Chance on a Normal Garment (White). However, this process has a very low success rate as this item is considered a rare Unique, in the same tier as Astramentis.
Trade with other players
The only reliable way to obtain a Tabula Rasa is by buying it from another player through the official PoE 2 trade site. Do note, however, that Tabula Rasa typically costs 1x Mirror of Kalandra in most leagues, sometimes more.
Tabula Rasa can also drop from Rogue Exiles if GGG adds them to that loot table. However, this changes from season to season.
How Does Tabula Rasa Work in PoE 2
In its base form, Tabula Rasa has no effects, only six empty sockets. However, unlike other armor pieces, the sockets on a Tabula Rasa are not Rune sockets but rather Jewel sockets, like the ones found on the passive skill tree.
This means that with a Tabula Rasa, players can freely equip six individual Jewels with unique effects and have them stack on top of each other. It's as if you suddenly get six extra Jewel sockets in the passive tree, which is an incredibly attractive proposition.
Best of all, these Jewels can be put in and taken out at any time, just like the passive tree Jewel sockets. This allows for a ton of experimentation and different loadouts, depending on the task at hand. You can use a set of six Jewels for bossing and swap it out for another set for mapping and keep hopping in between at no cost.
However, it's important to remember that Tabula Rasa only really shows its value when it's paired with Jewels with powerful effects. And as anyone with a pulse on the trade market knows, good Jewels are prohibitively expensive. And finding six of them is only possible for players with deep pockets.
Due to its flexibility in how it can be built, Tabula Rasa can be used in a lot of different builds, and the only requirement to make it work is that you have enough Jewels worth adding.
Using a Vaal Orb on a Tabula Rasa can potentially add implicits to this item.
