Mana management is one of the most important aspects of combat in Path of Exile 2. Consistently maintaining optimal DPS for spellcaster classes like Sorceress not only requires a large mana pool to support level 20+ Skills in the endgame but a way to recover the mana as well.

While passive mana regen should be the main means of recovery, Mana Flasks are incredibly important as well, giving a character a huge injection of mana with a click of a button. The Melting Maelstrom Unique is the best Mana Flask in the entire game. Here's how to get it.

How to Get Melting Maelstrom in PoE 2

path of exile 2 simulacrum boss

Melting Maelstrom Ultimate Mana Flask is a possible drop from the Delirium pinnacle boss, Kosis, the Revelation in Path of Exile 2. The only way to fight Kosis, the Revelation—and his companion Omniphobia, Fear Manifest—is to use a Simulacrum on the Realmgate in the Atlas. One Simulacrum can be obtained by combining 300 Simulacrum Splinter s, which are rare drops from Delirium maps.

Melting Maelstrom is not a guaranteed drop from Kosis, the Revelation. You will likely need multiple attempts to get this unique to spawn.

While it's possible to get Simulacrum Splinters from regular Tier 11+ Delirium maps, by far the more efficient way is to instill your Waystones with Delirium fog through the instilling mechanic. Players can easily get anywhere from 10-50 Simulacrum Splinters per map with this method, depending on the mob density and the item quantity drop rate in the map. Juicing maps is the only efficient way of farming Simulacrum Splinters.

Defeating Kosis, the Revelation will also give players Delirium Atlas points. Use them wisely, and the number of Simulacrum Splinters in your maps will increase drastically.

How Does Melting Maelstrom Work in PoE 2

Melting Maelstrom Mana Flask in path of exile 2

Melting Maelstrom's item description is a bit hard to understand, often resulting in confusion about what it exactly means. Here's the breakdown:

  • Effect is not removed when Unreserved Mana is Filled: Unlike regular Mana Flasks, which stop working as soon as the mana bar reaches full, Melting Maelstrom will keep the effect active in the background, allowing you to spam spells and skills as much as possible for as long as its effect persists.
  • #% Increased Duration: Melting Maelstrom can have anywhere between 200-250% Increased Duration, which allows its mana recovery effect to last anywhere between 6-11 seconds, depending on the rolls and the quality of the Flask.
  • Recover all Mana when Used: Instead of simply recovering 310 mana like regular flasks, Melting Maelstrom recovers all mana, which means when activated, its effect will never stop until its duration runs out.
  • Every 3 seconds during Effect, deal 50% of Mana spent in those seconds as Chaos Damage to Enemies within 3 meters: In addition to Mana recovery, Melting Maelstrom will also grant the player a beneficial aura-like effect to destroy enemies in close range. Works best with melee classes like Monks and Warriors. This effect will proc 2-3 times, depending on the duration.

Deals 25% of current Mana as Chaos Damage to you when Effect ends: Melting Maelstrom will self-inflict damage on the player when the effect finishes. Fortunately, this damage is not dealt directly to Life; it has to bypass Energy Shield first, which makes it relatively easy to tank.
