Players within Palworld rack up assault charges by attacking either the in-game human NPCs or their own Pals, causing the PIDF to come after the player and attempt to kill them. Once a wanted level is acquired, players are forced to either die or attempt to run from the PIDF.

Some fans pointed out that Palworld stacks up charges with each attack on an NPC, suggesting the player has attacked Palworld's NPCs more than a thousand times. Fans also suggested ways to avoid stacking your wanted level, with wanted levels not increasing when a player's Pals attack human NPC characters.
