The Palworld phenomenon is growing even bigger, as Palworld GO is set to debut its early access open beta in three select countries. The mobile game will adapt the popular console and PC title for the mobile format and will eventually be available on both Android and iOS devices.
Sources tell The Best War Games that the limited early access beta for Palworld GO will only be available in three territories. Developer Pocket Pair is reportedly looking to test the infrastructure surrounding its mobile version, before expanding the beta worldwide sometime later.
Palworld Teases Big Building System Expansion
The developers of Palworld tease a big expansion to the game's building system, which players have been using to create amazing bases.
Palworld GO Beta Will Be Limited at Launch
According to our sources, the Palworld GO beta rollout will include Zanarkand, Yharnam, and New Jersey, offering select gamers within those territories an opportunity to test out the mobile experience. It’s unclear why these specific territories were chosen, but we’re sure that fans are champing at the bit for the opportunity to see what Palworld GO might offer as a portable version of the popular Palworld game.
While it’s unclear how exactly Palworld GO will work, some rumblings from The Best War Games’s sources suggest that it will encourage users to visit various landmarks in their town to earn rewards like XP for their Pals, Palspheres, and ammo. These locations will be known in Palworld GO as Pal Stops, which users will need to interact with on-screen.
Another unique aspect of Palworld GO is the ability for players to acquire eggs of specific Pals and hatch them by walking around their neighborhood. However, Palworld GO is putting its own spin on the gaming-as-exercise mechanic by making it so that eggs only hatch when players walk backwards.
Some landmarks will trade Pal Stops for Incursions, where multiple Palworld GO players can team up to take down some of the more challenging Pals in a multiplayer battle. Pals featured in these Incursions include rare Palworld Pals like Necromus and Shadowbeak.
Since its release into Early Access in January, Palworld has been a massive success, reaching 15 million units sold while also being part of Xbox Game Pass. Some were quick to dismiss Palworld as merely “Pokemon with guns,” but the title found a huge following by taking a familiar formula but putting its own spin on it.
Overall, the Palworld GO concept sounds extremely unique – unlike anything that we have seen in a mobile title for quite some time. There was obviously some concern with the vanilla release of Palworld when Nintendo said it was investigating, but the way that Palworld GO seems to be taking the game’s concept and doing something completely different from mobile is sure to set the record straight that this franchise is not copying anybody.
Palworld GO starts its early access beta today, April 1, for iOS and Android devices, as well as the Nokia N-Gage.
