One of the best features of Palworld is base management, and Pals can do a lot of things besides just accompany players on their adventures through the Palpagos Islands, from crafting gear to mining to gathering resources — and even defending their bases in case of Raids.

Palworld's imminent PlayStation 5 release is one of the biggest surprises from the latest State of Play broadcast held on September 24.

The annoying enemy factions and even wild Pals will try to destroy all the things players built periodically, so to prevent it, some Pals should be placed in alert mode to intercept the invaders and handle the defense stations. This list covers the best Pals to defend bases from Raids, from lower-tier Pals to end-game Legendaries.

11 Depresso

Never Sleeps, Always Alert

  • HP: 70
  • ATK: 70
  • DEF: 70
  • SPEED: 140

Depresso is one of the first Pals players get access to when roaming around the Plateau Of Beginning, and they will find it by night near water spots or forests. So, it is not a hard Pal to catch, and the best thing is that it never tires out. Thanks to its Nocturnal feature, it will keep working day and night, taking some rest periods once in a blue moon.

Palworld Weapon Update
Why Palworld's Next Big Update Needs to Prioritize Pal Weapons

Back in June, Palworld received a significant update with the introduction of the Sakurajima biome, adding 24 new Pals to its world. This update has generated excitement for the game's future, as Palworld continues to make waves in early access. With its blend of creature collection and survival gameplay, Palworld has become one of the year’s surprise hits. However, while the Sakurajima update brought many exciting features, it also missed an opportunity to expand on one of the game’s most unique aspects—Pal weapons.

This also works for base defense, since it will alert other sleeping Pals of the attacks. And, thanks to its Handiwork, it can manage battle stations and other defensive structures.

10 Dinossom

One Of The Strongest Early Game Pals

  • HP: 110
  • ATK: 85
  • DEF: 90
  • SPEED: 550

Players get access to Dinossom pretty early in the game, with couples or trios or them roaming around the Plateau Of Beginning. It is a level 15-16 Pal, so players need Mega Spheres to catch them, but by the time they reach level 15, they'll be able to get it without too many issues.

Dinossom's strong points are its resilience, high HP pool, and strong Dragon-type attacks combined with Grass-element attacks that can cause some serious AoE. The perfect Pal for base defense in the early stages — plus, it is great at collecting wood.

9 Relaxaurus

Will Send Invaders Flying Away

  • HP: 110
  • ATK: 110
  • DEF: 70
  • SPEED: 650

Do not be fooled by its cute, adorable appearance: this thing is a beast. With access to powerful Water and Dragon-type attacks, high AoE damaging blasts, and high stats, Relaxaurus is the perfect base defense Pal.

Plus, you can use it to breed some of the strongest late game Pals: for example, crossing it with Quivern yields a Jormuntide. Its strongest attack is Dragon Meteor, which causes huge damage to single targets while also blasting nearby foes.

8 Mossanda

Strong Mid-Game Pal With Access To Great AoE Attacks

  • HP: 100
  • ATK: 100
  • DEF: 90
  • SPEED: 500

Mossanda is a giant angry panda who can tackle most base Raiders at melee or mid-range while also resisting most attacks thanks to its high defense and HP pool. Having two or three roaming around the base will help to stop attackers while other pals take them down from a safe distance.

Mossanda Lux is its Electric-type version and has less Defense but deals more damage. It also has access to AoE electrical attacks that can stun targets in a wide area. Both of these variants are good choices for base protection.

7 Katress

A Mid-Game Pal Who Never Sleeps And Uses AoE Fire and Dark Attacks

  • HP: 90
  • ATK: 105
  • DEF: 90
  • SPEED: 440

Thanks to its Nocturnal behavior, Katress will work day and night. Unlike Depresso, it has a higher Sanity consumption rate, so this Pal will have to take some rest periods between shifts.

Palworld Faction Tier List

The islands of Palworld consist of unique and powerful factions, and their different qualities set them apart from one another.

Its greatest features are its strong attack and its access to AoE Fire and Dark attacks like Shadow Burst. It can also learn advanced fire abilities, like Inferno. Great pick to defend choke points and cook down invaders.

6 Fenglope

Fast, Resilient, And With Access To Many AoE Ice Attacks

  • HP: 110
  • ATK: 110
  • DEF: 90
  • SPEED: 750

Fenglope has one of the fastest Speed stats for a non-flying Pal, a good balance between HP and Defense, and a strong Attack stat. It has access to one of the best Ice Abilities that causes Damage in a huge AoE radius: Blizzard Spike. It also has access to a signature move called Cloud Tempest that pushes back opponents and damages them in an area.

Finally, this Pal learns Pal Blast, the strongest Normal-type Ability, which causes huge single-target damage. Its great move variety makes it great at taking down high-priority targets as well as pushing back (and damaging) aggressive groups of raiders.

5 Faleris

Powerful, Fast, Pushes Enemies Away, And Summons Storms Of Fire

  • HP: 110
  • ATK: 105
  • DEF: 100
  • SPEED: 1000

Faleris is a giant fire bird that can be obtained in the late game, or through Breeding in mid-game. Its powerful fire attacks cover a wide area with giant fire tornados, and its dive attack pushes back enemies while executing them stylishly.

Faleris is a force to be reckoned with, and setting it loose in the base can improve the base's defense capabilities quite a bit. Just a couple of these can defend against most ground attacks, but they can get overrun by Sky Pal Raids, so they'll need ranged support to be at their most effective.

4 Jormuntide Ignis

A Nuclear Bomb In The Shape Of A Sea Serpent

  • HP: 130
  • ATK: 150
  • DEF: 100
  • SPEED: 525

Jormuntide Ignis is a Fire/Dragon Pal with access to the most destructive attacks of both types. Boasting one of the highest Attack stats among all Pals, this beast is capable of annihilating anything that comes close to your base without permission.

Various Accessories that Help the Game
Palworld: 12 Best Accessories To Get

From the Defense Pendant to the Ring of Mercy, these top-notch accessories should be sought out as soon as possible in Palworld.

By

It is a little bit tricky to obtain, but players can try their luck with breeding Nitewing with a Helzephyr (two relatively easy mid-game Pals) to get a Jormuntide. Then, cross the Jormuntide with a Blazehowl to get a Jormuntide Ignis.

3 Anubis

Powerful Melee Combatant That Is The Best At Defending From Pal Attacks

  • HP: 100
  • ATK: 130
  • DEF: 120
  • SPEED: 800

Anubis is one of the best Pals in the game; be it for combat, mining, crafting, or base defense, Anubis excels at everything. Its signature move is Spinning Roundhouse, a wide area AoE melee strike that will push enemies far and wide. This is one of the reasons why Anubis is so good at base defense.

The other reasons are its incredibly high base stats, attack speed, and mobility, making it the perfect interceptor to chase down raiders who have become spread out. Players can breed Anubis relatively easily by crossing a Bushi and a Penking (both boss Pals can be captured around level 20).

2 Orserk

Power, AoE Blasts, Highly Resilient, And Highly Effective At Long Range

  • HP: 100
  • ATK: 130
  • DEF: 100
  • SPEED: 900

Orserk is a titanic Electric/Dragon Pal with access to the best of both worlds, and that means one thing: powerful AoE abilities that blast opponents into pieces. It is quite resilient as well, and quick to react.

On its downside, its high food intake can be a problem, and it is prone to overeating, causing various sicknesses. But, when in a pinch, players can let loose this beast and watch the fireworks. From a safe distance, of course.
