As it continues to deliver on its alternative vision for a monster catching experience, Palworld’s first raid boss update has come with a new Pal in multiple different variations. The powerful Bellanoir has been quickly adopted by members of Palworld's community strong enough to defeat and subsequently breed it, but there’s also Bellanoir Libero, a completely different species of Pal despite mostly being separated by only one main skill.
Both versions of Bellanoir are Dark-type elemental Pals, surprising players who are used to the typical element variations of Pals denoted by a second part to their name. Libero, on the other hand, also boasts the exact same stats as the base species. While Bellanoir Libero is able to switch to an Ice-type element while having low health, this is an exclusive feature of its raid boss version which isn’t available to the player. The differing exclusive skills of the variations of Bellanoir are what actually define them, and have caused many players to consider Libero to be superior.
Palworld's Dragon Element Needs Some TLC in One Huge Area
Palworld's Dragon-type Pals may be some of the strongest in the game, but they are definitely lacking in one important aspect.
Obtaining Normal Bellanoir Versus Bellanoir Libero
Bellanoir is a raid boss meant to challenge players who reach the point of being able to acquire Ancient Technology Points. By building the Summoning Altar in Palworld and using a Bellanoir Slab crafted from encounters, it can be summoned and defeated for an egg. While this grants access to the normal Bellanoir, there is no way to breed for Libero or unlock it as a transformation from the normal variation.
Unique Bellanoir Libero Slab Fragments are required for the alternate variation, with this subspecies considered the more difficult boss of the two and rewarding players accordingly. There is a third variation with even better drops in boss-exclusive form Bellanoir Libero Ultra, but this is still the same Pal. Due to the female-heavy gender ratio of any Bellanoir, it can take many attempts to properly pass down skills through breeding. Given the sheer effectiveness of its signature skill, however, utilizing passives like Hooligan and Burly Body can allow Libero to challenge most of Palworld's strongest bosses with ease.

The Absurd Combat Potential of Bellanoir Skills
It’s not as geared towards base activities apart from crafting medicine-related items, but Bellanoir's signature skill, Nightmare Ray, can be devastating in terms of damage. This essentially acts as a nuke of dark energy which can eviscerate the health of targets, but it also doesn’t last very long and has a relatively long cooldown. The partner skill Nightmare Iris basically allows for this cooldown to be vastly reduced even further, but this Pal still seems to fall short of Libero.

Nightmare Bloom is the exclusive Pal skill which makes Bellanoir Libero such a threat, as it basically has the power of Nightmare Ray, but as a much more sustained attack which lasts long enough to shave off entire chunks of late-game boss health bars with each usage. Its only downside is sharing a long cooldown, but this is similarly reduced with the partner skill Nightmare Stare. Libero also gets an exclusive Palworld passive skill, Siren of the Void, which increases the power of Dark and Ice-type attacks by 20 percent. They have unique color palettes and entries in the Paldeck, but one version of Bellanoir is measurably stronger and harder to obtain.
