Palworld took 2024 by storm, surprising many with its addictive survival and creature collection gameplay. It proved to be a massive hit, and that success quickly inspired developer Pocketpair to expand Palworld beyond the video game world. Plush toys, heated competition with Pokemon, and even its own newly-announced trading card game have kept Palworld in the spotlight. The game may not pull the same numbers as its first few months, but it still boasts a truly impressive following. The reveal of a trading card game was exciting enough, but Pocketpair finally confirmed something that players have been waiting to hear for two years: Palworld 1.0 will launch in 2026.

Even in its early access, Palworld is already a truly solid game. Version 1.0 is going to mark the most important milestone the game has reached yet, and fans are eager to find out which new Pals are waiting to make their debut. There are already over 200 Pals in Palworld, so seeing a new batch of these creatures is going to be one of the many highlights of 1.0. Pocketpair hasn't shared a full list of Pals that will be in Palworld 1.0, but there were a few interesting ones teased during the official 1.0 announcement back in January.

Pocketpair's Palworld 1.0 Announcement Teases Six New Pals, and There Are Bound to Be More Revealed Later

Past Palworld updates have already expanded the Pal roster in some serious ways, and 1.0 has the potential to be one of the biggest upgrades to the Pal list yet. When Pocketpair revealed that 2026 would finally be the year of 1.0, the company offered some glimpses of Pal concept art. Since it's concept art, the appearance of these Pals could change slightly before 1.0 is released, but they all look like compelling additions to the game.

Pals That Are Coming to Palworld With the 1.0 Update

  • A small fluffy electric dog
  • A red water lily dragon
  • An eel-like creature with a spine blade
  • A blue and white bird with puffy feathers
  • Twin creatures with a ghostly appearance
  • A large glowing blue and white whale

None of these Pals have names yet. Well, their names at least haven't been revealed to players. The one thing that's clear, though, is that each Pal is incredibly distinct in its appearance. The electric dog looks like an adorable, but angry, Pomeranian, while the red water lily dragon has a beautiful, regal quality to it. The eel-like Pal with a spine blade simply looks super cool, and the puffy bird with white and blue plumage is adorable in contrast to the eel's more dangerous design. When it comes to the twin Pals, it's hard to decipher exactly what they are, but they have a unique blend of cuteness and ghostliness. All the Pals in Palworld have their own unique identity, and this concept showcases that Pocketpair is still taking that approach to heart with character design.

One of the most intriguing of all, though, is the giant glowing whale that's revealed at the end of the announcement. A similar looking whale has been shown in past Palworld trailers, but it has yet to officially be made part of the game. Pocketpair has clearly been teasing this for a while, and it looks like the huge whale is finally going to make its way into Palworld. The mysterious Palworld whale still doesn't have a name, but fans have been referring to it as the "Colossal Whale" or "Sky Whale" on the internet.

Palworld's trading card game launches on July 30, 2026. Pocketpair has yet to confirm which retailers the card game will be available at. Game rules and price are also being kept secret at the moment.

When Does Palworld 1.0 Launch?

As of right now, all that is known about Palworld's 1.0 update is that it's going to be released sometime in 2026. There's no way to know for sure, but a big summer or fall update could be possible. However, it could also arrive a lot sooner than players are expecting. Pocketpair kicked off the year in an exciting way by announcing both the 1.0 version and the Palworld trading card game.

Ultimately, Pocketpair confirming that Palworld's full version will be ready in 2026 is better than no news. Every Palworld update has brought the game closer to its complete form, and it will be fascinating to see what surprises the developer has in store for players. Palworld's Home Sweet Home update launched in December 2025, and that alone brought some great changes to the game. From base building improvements to experimenting with PvP for PC, Pocketpair has been tweaking Palworld to try and find the perfect balance for its 1.0 launch.

More Palworld 1.0 Pals Will Likely Be Announced Ahead of the Update's Release

The concept art of these five Pals and a new tease of the Sky Whale is a great appetizer, but it's likely just the tip of the iceberg. Pocketpair is going to want to generate as much hype as possible, and showcasing more Pals is one of the many ways that the developer can do that. Pals aren't the only features that are bound to be revealed in the coming months, either. Gameplay improvements, possible new maps, more weapons, and overall quality of life upgrades are probably going to be revealed closer to launch, too. Most of the finer details are still being kept in the dark, but Pocketpair has made it clear that Palworld' s 2026 plans are already big.

Not only is there a trading card game and 1.0 update to look forward to, but the recently-announced farming sim spin-off Palworld: Palfarm is also on the list of upcoming projects. Palworld: Palfarm doesn't yet have a release window set in stone, though. Regardless, it's just another example of how hard Pocketpair is betting on Palworld becoming one of the biggest new franchises around. Once Palworld 1.0 arrives, it will be exciting to see if the game's new era draws in even more players.
