Pac-Man World 2 is getting the remake treatment 23 years after its initial release in 2002, with the updated version titled PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC. The announcement of a new Pac-Man game was included as part of the latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, which featured a variety of exciting announcements about upcoming releases for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Pac-Man World 2 is a sequel to 1999’s Pac-Man World, which was similarly given the remake treatment back in 2022. In addition to updated visuals and 4K resolution support at 60fps, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC included a host of gameplay improvements and rebalancing efforts, along with reworked boss battles and a redesigned HUD. PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC received favorable reviews at launch, with the game currently sitting at a 71 on OpenCritic.

With Pac-Man 99 released, fans of the classic Namco mascot will want to know what other games he stars in that were well received by critics and fans.
PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC was announced by Bandai Namco during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase on July 31, and is described as a “full remake of the beloved classic.” PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC will offer new and enhanced gameplay, voice acting for each character, new collectibles, and customization options. The game will also see the inclusion of a two-player couch co-op mode for the first time in the history of the Pac-Man World series.
What to Expect From PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC
PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC has been given a release date of September 26, 2025, for platforms including Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Digital pre-orders are currently live, with two options to choose from: Digital Standard and Digital Deluxe, which includes the Collaboration DLC Set. As an added bonus, players who own the 2022 remake PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC will be able to unlock an exclusive in-game costume for TOC-MAN — the antagonist of the Pac-Man World series — once the sequel launches.
With the remake of the first game, there was a clear and noticeable difference between the original Pac-Man World levels and the improved levels featured in PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC. It stands to reason that PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC will be similar as far as level design enhancements are concerned. There’s even the potential for the game to look even better than the original remake, given the expanded visual diversity of its explorable environments, ranging from frolic-worthy meadows to slippery ice peaks and fiery volcanoes.
With the release of PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC on the horizon, fans will undoubtedly be eager to see whether other beloved titles like Pac-Man World 3 will get the remake or remaster treatment as well. Should PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC prove as successful as its predecessor, it stands to reason that Bandai would want to consider following up with a proper remake of Pac-Man World 3, in addition to revisiting other classic Pac-Man titles.
