Since dropping the '2' from the name, the Overwatch rebranding has brought a slew of new and returning players to Blizzard's iconic hero shooter. With five brand-new heroes, the Reign of Talon story arc, and the return of the fan-favorite Loverwatch event, players have much to discover and even more rewards to unlock. Conquest, Overwatch's first-ever meta event, is one of many new additions to the game, offering free rewards for completing challenges.
Due to various bugs and server inconsistencies suffered during the first week of the Talon x Overwatch event, many players had trouble completing challenges and obtaining their rewards. To compensate, Blizzard issued all rewards from both factions to eligible players, in addition to two Prestige Passes. But what are those passes, exactly? This Overwatch guide aims to explain what a Prestige Pass is and how it works.
It's Official: Overwatch Has Beaten Marvel Rivals
Blizzard's original breakthrough hero shooter returns to the throne as it officially surpasses its Marvel-themed competition.
What is a Prestige Pass in Overwatch?
S1: Conquest
Talon x Overwatch is a five-week event that asks players to join one of two rivaling factions and rewards them for completing challenges. Each faction has unique rewards, including player icons, voice lines, and weapon charms. Much like the Battle Pass, rewards are earned consecutively as players earn Notoriety Points for completing daily and weekly challenges.
Once an initial Faction Pass is completed and all rewards are earned, players have the option of switching factions and earning their respective rewards, or staying with their current faction and progressing to its Prestige Pass. A Prestige Pass is simply the next stage of rewards for sticking with their chosen faction, which includes four normal loot boxes and one epic or legendary loot box.
In essence, when Blizzard says they're rewarding players with two Prestige Passes, it's a fancy way of saying "free loot boxes."
Whether you're Team Talon or Team Overwatch, you're likely progressing through your first natural Prestige Pass if you have already earned the initial rewards and stuck with the same faction.
All Compensation Rewards Granted in Overwatch
All players who completed at least one event challenge in the first week of the Talon x Overwatch event are eligible to receive the compensation rewards. All rewards are additive as well, meaning players who were able to earn loot boxes from the previous week's Prestige Pass will still earn additional loot boxes as compensation. However, it may take a few days for all players to receive their rewards.
In total, the eligible players will receive the following rewards:
- 12 Base Loot Boxes
- 1 Epic Loot Box
- 1 Legendary Loot Box
- 2 Voice Lines (Sojourn, Emre)
- 2 Common Titles (Overwatch, Talon)
- 1 Weapon Charm (Overwatch)
- 1 Namecard (Emre)
Additionally, as per an official Overwatch announcement from Blizzard, they'll be lowering the pass completion requirements to obtain Legendary Faction Titles in response to players' inability to switch during the server downtime. This change is scheduled to happen during the Season Midcycle Patch.
The Overwatch S1: Conquest patch notes are immense, introducing a huge list of changes to the game. If it's been a while since you last played, now's the perfect time to jump back in.
