Even as the specter of its sequel looms on the horizon, Overwatch continues to update and adapt. Alongside nerfs and buffs to heroes, like Tracer, new systems and improvements are still rolled out at a steady pace, including the relatively recent introduction of the hero rotation system.
The hero rotation system implemented in Overwatch forces players to shake up their game and learn new skills in order to stay competitive, though it has been controversial. In addition to forcing adaptation from players, these bans sometimes give some heroes a temporary advantage, as their biggest counters are sidelined for a full week.
The current rotation for Overwatch has seen D.Va and Baptiste banned, alongside McCree, Soldier 76, Sombra, and Widowmaker. Although not many of these characters fall into places of high honor, being some of the best DPS heroes of Overwatch, many of them have one thing in common: their weapons are hitscan. This means the weapon hits in the same instant it is fired, which makes them particularly effective against Pharah. With these bans that include two of her hard counters, Pharah is sitting pretty, though the week is almost up.
With two of Overwatch's easiest to learn characters sitting on the sidelines, now is the perfect time to try something more advanced, like flying. This does not truly address Pharah's current lackluster performance, but hopefully, it precedes some true buffs for her.
Overwatch is available for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
