  • Overwatch 2's first non-binary hero, Venture, will also join the roster in Season 10 with details to come.

Overwatch 2 recently confirmed Wrecking Ball is getting a small rework in Season 10. Players can expect this challenging Overwatch 2 Tank hero to play a little differently after Season 9 ends in early April.

Season 9 of Overwatch 2 is about halfway through its run. On March 12, the shooter is implementing a sizable midseason patch that is making adjustments to roughly half of Overwatch 2’s roster. Many of these tweaks are rebalances in response to the sweeping changes to health and projectiles at the beginning of the season.

Overwatch 2 is planning a new Quick Play: Hacked later on in Season 9, featuring a twist on a nostalgic play style from the original game.

That said, Wrecking Ball is not among the heroes being adjusted in this patch. This is because, according to game director Aaron Keller in a recent Overwatch 2 Director’s Take blog, the tank hero is going to be receiving a “small rework” in Season 10. While the exact details of these changes are currently unknown, fans can expect the chaotic critter’s kit to receive a tune-up when Season 10 begins on or around April 7.

Wrecking Ball Getting a Rework in OW2 Season 10

  • Wrecking Ball is receiving a small rework in Overwatch 2 Season 10, expected to begin on April 7.

Among all the heroes in Overwatch 2, Wrecking Ball is one of the hardest to master. His vertical and horizontal mobility give the hero a unique play style with a high learning curve. What’s more, adapting to the unconventional tank makes Wrecking Ball difficult to play alongside in Quick Play, which led Overwatch 2 to consider a rework for him. Now it seems those changes are right around the corner.

While players will have to wait a few weeks to see the full scope of Wrecking Ball’s rework, Overwatch 2’s past comments about the Tank might give them an idea on what to expect. Previously, lead hero designer Alec Dawson said his biggest concern regarding Wrecking Ball is that he was designed to be played alongside another tank in Overwatch 1, when teams had six people. Fans can probably expect Wrecking Ball’s rework to give him more of a field presence to allow him to better operate as the sole tank on the team in Overwatch 2.

Season 10 will also be bringing the first new Overwatch 2 hero in 2024. Venture, a subterranean explorer and the first non-binary hero in the game, joins the Overwatch 2 roster at the start of the new season. Fans can expect to see the details on their abilities and backstory over the course of the next month.
