Tracer has been disabled in Overwatch 2 Stadium after a glitch with Recall allowed her to travel back in time to gain the benefits of Items after she sells them. This hilarious game-breaking bug allowed the time-jumping damage hero to dominate Overwatch 2 games with a functionally infinite amount of Stadium Cash.
The mid-Season 18 update for Overwatch 2 recently arrived, bringing a slew of balance updates and the start of the Persona 5 collaboration event. However, one of the most exciting parts of this patch was the debut of Tracer, one of Overwatch 2’s poster children, in the new Stadium game mode.
Tracer Disabled in Overwatch 2 Stadium After Breaking the Armory
Unfortunately, it seems like a game-breaking glitch has caused Tracer to be kicked out of Stadium mere days after her arrival in the Overwatch 2 mid-season update. The damage hero has been temporarily disabled in Stadium due to a bug with Recall. Fans were able to purchase Items from the Armory, then sell them, quickly use her Recall ability, and gain some of the benefits of the sold Item while retaining the empty inventory slot and all of their Stadium Cash. As showcased via a screenshot from Overwatch 2 player Landia on Twitter, this could lead to Tracer running around with over 1600 Health and Armor, essentially making her impossible to kill.
The Recall ability lets Tracer transport back in time, restoring her health to where it was three seconds earlier. The fact that the Stadium system couldn’t accommodate her maximum health drastically changing because of item purchases or sales during this window is especially entertaining and thematic, given Tracer’s ability to flicker through time.
It remains to be seen exactly how long Tracer will be unavailable in Stadium. While Blizzard could technically fix this bug by the end of the day on Friday, September 19, it would not be a surprise if it took a little longer. There is a decent chance Tracer fans may have to wait until after the weekend to play the damage hero in Overwatch 2 Stadium once again.
Either way, Tracer won’t remain the newest hero in Stadium for long. More heroes will be added to the roster in Season 19 when it starts on October 14, with Torbjorn and Sojourn on the short list of Overwatch 2 characters to arrive in Stadium. It remains to be seen if the two damage heroes will arrive in Season 19 or not, but assuming it follows the precedent from the last several seasons, players can expect three characters to be added on patch day, with a fourth arriving about a month later for the mid-season update.
