Overwatch 2 Begins Anniversary Event With Fan-Favorite Game…

Overwatch 2 has officially kicked off its third anniversary event with returning game modes like Overwatch Classic, Mirrorwatch, and April Fool’s, plus a bunch of incredible Legendary rewards. With free Epic and Legendary Loot Boxes, a Lifeweaver skin, and even some Mythic Prisms up for grabs, fans won’t want to miss out on this limited-time Overwatch 2 celebration.

On October 4, 2022, Overwatch 2 officially took the place of its predecessor as Blizzard’s hero shooter. In the three years since then, Overwatch 2 has released 18 seasons full of collaboration events, limited-time game modes, and major changes to the game’s formula. Though it had a rocky start, the last year has seen some historic highs for the FPS, with Overwatch 2 already teasing big plans for 2026.

Overwatch 2 Anniversary 2025 Event Details

Now, Blizzard is celebrating its third year of Overwatch 2 by hearkening back to some of the highlights of its lifespan. From now through October 12, a different popular game mode from the last few years will return each week, including Prop Hunt, Mirrorwatch, April Fools 2025, and Junkenstein’s Laboratory. A different Overwatch Classic ruleset will also be available in each of these periods, with the 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020 versions scheduled during the four-week event.

Some fantastic rewards await gamers who complete event challenges each week. Throughout the whole celebration, players can earn three Epic and Legendary Loot Boxes, the brand-new Vampire Regent Lifeweaver Legendary skin, and 20 Mythic Prisms. This currency is usually only available with the Premium Battle Pass or with direct microtransactions, making it the first time fans can collect Mythic Prisms in Overwatch 2 completely free.

Were that not exciting enough, this event started alongside the mid-Season 18 update, as well as the Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 collaboration event. Players can enjoy a slew of balance adjustments, try Tracer out in the Stadium game mode, complete crossover event challenges for some Persona 5-themed rewards and Battle Pass XP, or purchase Phantom Thief skins for Wuyang, Mercy, Genji, Lifeweaver, and D.Va from the in-game store.

To add even more icing on the cake, Overwatch 2 has also begun a new Twitch Drop campaign to celebrate Season 18. By watching up to 13 hours of Overwatch 2 on Twitch, players can get some adorable Wuyang cosmetics, plus a normal and Epic Loot Box. These free rewards are available now, and will be up for grabs through October 8, so fans should be sure to pick them up while they can.
