Overwatch 2 is bringing back some of its most popular game modes from the last year for its second anniversary, including Mirrorwatch, Prop Hunt, and April Fools. This month-long Overwatch 2 event kicks off on September 24, with each week offering a different selection of these game modes.
October 4 marks the two-year anniversary of Overwatch 2. Over the course of the last year, Overwatch 2 has had several limited-time PvP and PvE game modes available as a part of its seasonal content.
Now, it seems Overwatch 2 players will soon have another chance to give these game modes a try. In a recent blog post, Overwatch 2 gave fans a teaser for its upcoming anniversary event. Starting September 24, and running for a month, Overwatch 2 will bring back some of its best game modes from the last year. Each week features a different pair active: week one includes Beast Hunt and Community Crafted, week two is Cosmic Crisis and April Fools 2024, and week three brings back Prop Hunt and Overwatch 2 fan-favorite Mirrorwatch.
Game Modes Returning for Overwatch 2 Anniversary
-
Week 1 (September 24-30)
- Beast Hunt
- Community Crafted
-
Week 2 (October 1-7)
- April Fools 2024
- Cosmic Crisis
-
Week 3 (October 8-14)
- Mirrorwatch
- Prop Hunt
Beast Hunt, also called Battle of the Beasts in Season 8, features both teams trying to take down a boss monster version of Orisa. Community Crafted and April Fools both feature heroes with tweaked abilities, the former from Overwatch 2 content creators, and the latter from joke patch notes from the developers. Cosmic Crisis is an eldritch PvE escape mission from Season 9, while Prop Hunt is the returning hide-and-seek minigame Overwatch 2 has iterated on since Season 5. Lastly, Season 10’s Mirrorwatch pits alternative universe versions of iconic Overwatch 2 heroes and villains against each other, each with reimagined abilities and kits.
The blog also makes mention of rewards that players can earn throughout the event, though exactly what they are is not known yet. If it is anything like last year, fans can expect the chance to earn cosmetics, Battle Pass experience, and possibly even Overwatch Credits by completing in-game tasks and playing the returning game modes. Overwatch 2 hasn’t said anything about the Anniversary Store returning, but players might want to save their Overwatch Credits just in case.
The Overwatch 2 x World of Warcraft event is also active now through the end of the month, giving players the chance to earn sprays, name cards, titles, and experience by completing in-game challenges. Season 13 is also slated to begin on October 15, which is either the end of the anniversary event or the final week of it. Either way, it seems like the next month will have plenty of things for Overwatch 2 fans to enjoy.
