An Overwatch 2 fan has created inventive skin concepts, transforming Widowmaker, Lifeweaver, and Wrecking Ball into Jessie, James, and Meowth. The Overwatch 2 community often shares ingenious ideas for skins that don't yet officially exist, showcasing the potential for crossovers that Blizzard's shooter could have in the future.
Pokemon introduced many villains over the years, but few have become as memorable as Jessie and James. The Team Rocket agents became famous in the anime for their relentless pursuit of Pikachu, which always ended with them blasting off. Although they are part of the bad guys' team, Jessie and James are remembered for their close friendship with Meowth and other pocket monsters such as Arbok and Weezing, becoming some of the most beloved characters. Paying tribute to this popular trio from the Pokemon franchise, an Overwatch 2 fan shared some creative fan art.
Overwatch 2's Sophomore Kiriko Weapon Skin Hides a Cute Detail
Overwatch 2's new Season 17 brings a ton of new cosmetics, including a new bundle for Kiriko that features a neat detail in one weapon skin.
On the Overwatch 2 subreddit, user leadius shared skin concepts, imagining Widowmaker, Lifeweaver, and Wrecking Ball as Jessie, James, and Meowth. The Overwatch 2 sniper wears the iconic Team Rocket outfit, while her visor is styled like Wobbuffet's eyes, and her rifle has Arbok's colors and shape in both modes. Lifeweaver appears in the same white outfit with an R on his chest, and the gear on his back has been given Victreebel's colors and design. The gauntlet on his right hand has been given a Weezing design, while the spikes, although not stabilized in the concept, will remind fans of Cacnea, one of James' Pokemon.
Creative Overwatch 2 Skin Concept Imagines Widowmaker, Lifeweaver, and Wrecking Ball as Team Rocket
Wrecking Ball is imagined as Meowth, Jessie, and James' beloved companion in the Pokemon anime. Its mecha has two versions: one is styled like a regular Poke Ball in red and white, and the ammunition pack on the side is a Pokemon TCG tin. The second version paints Wrecking Ball's mecha in black and red, with the iconic Team Rocket R on top, with the same ammo pack. Interestingly, this variant is a reference to Rocket's Poke Ball, a card from the 2004 Pokemon TCG EX Team Rocket Returns expansion.
Blizzard and The Pokemon Company have not shown any plans for an Overwatch 2 x Pokemon crossover. However, the positive reaction to the concepts shared by the OP showcases that there is great potential in this idea. While this collab is not real, the crossover with another popular IP has just gone live, releasing G.I. Joe skins for Overwatch 2 heroes.
