Overwatch 2 launched with far fewer maps compared to its predecessor and coupled with an overly long map rotation system, players are seeking solutions that might help alleviate the encroaching fatigue. One main problem with the release of Overwatch 2 was that it launched on top of a polished, complete game. When the Overwatch servers shut down a few days before the sequel came out, it irrevocably stripped players from the ability to play what some considered to be the better hero shooter.

While the actual moment-to-moment gameplay improved in Overwatch 2, its progression and monetization systems left a lot to be desired. The weekly challenges in Overwatch 2 lack variety, its user interface is a notable downgrade, and with maps only rotating once every season, it makes the experience feel stale much earlier than players would like. Though the next Overwatch 2 season is starting on December 6, its arrival will likely be a bandaid fix to a larger problem.

One possible solution that might freshen up the game comes from the official Overwatch community on Reddit, where several players gathered together to provide feedback on the current state of the game. The prevailing suggestion appears to be simple, yet brilliant: introducing Day and Night versions of existing Overwatch 2 maps, as well as bringing back all the Payload maps from the original game.

Compared to Overwatch, the sequel launched with nine fewer maps than the original game – largely as a result of Blizzard removing or replacing some game modes for Overwatch 2, but presumably also because the developers had issues porting over certain maps. Some players speculate that the real reason for map rotation is to stagger the fatigue across the first few seasons of Overwatch 2 to buy the development team some time to properly implement them.

An extremely popular map that players want to see in rotation in Overwatch 2 is Blizzard World. Though the map is available in Custom Games, it hasn't yet had its port to the sequel finished, and players are assuming that it will only become part of the rotation in Season 2. A major addition in the upcoming Overwatch 2 season is the new hero Ramattra, a "tempo tank" that promises to shake up the game's meta. With Season 2 launching on December 6, and a season expected to roughly last nine weeks, players can expect Season 3 on February 7, 2023.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
