Summary

  • Following a recent leak, one Overwatch 2 fan paid homage to potential wedding skins with an incredible sketch of Mercy and Genji.
  • The two characters have long been speculated to be in a romantic relationship.
  • Other hero skin concepts seen in a recent leak include 8-bit skins and vampire skins.

Fans of Mercy and Genji in Overwatch 2 may appreciate a new piece of fan art that features the two fan-favorite heroes. Overwatch 2 players are currently enjoying the game's Season 12 Battle Pass, which features an Egyptian mythology theme. While Egyptian heroes Ana and Pharah were disappointingly omitted from the new Battle Pass, Illari, Doomfist, and Reaper players have been treated to some new skins.

A few weeks ago, an Overwatch 2 survey containing an array of hero skin concepts by Blizzard leaked online, leading to a ton of buzz and excitement throughout the Overwatch community. One of the themes that got fans talking was the Summertime theme, which gave swimming gear to Junker Queen, Reinhardt, Mei, Symmetra, and Illari. The 8-bit skins for D.Va, Sombra, Genji, and Reinhardt also drew plenty of buzz, along with the vampire skin theme for Kiriko, Junker Queen, Moira, and Roadhog sparked a lot of hype. However, one theme in particular drew the most attention from the community: a wedding skin theme for Juno, Kiriko, Mercy, and Genji.

Clever Overwatch 2 Skin Concept Turns Juno Into a Looney Tunes Character

Ever since the early days of the original Overwatch, many fans have speculated that Genji and Mercy are in a relationship. Both heroes being included in this recent wedding concept skin leak has led to even more buzz from the fandom, and even some fan art inspired by the skins. On Reddit, the user birk_ow posted a gorgeous piece of fan art depicting Mercy and Genji's wedding. In the art, both heroes are wearing the wedding outfits from the leak, and Mercy is shown flying through the air while holding onto Genji's hand. Below them, a crowd of what can be assumed to be the rest of the Overwatch heroes, including Winston, cheers and throws bouquets.

Overwatch 2 Fan Art Gives Genji And Mercy a Wedding

Fans are interested to see whether any of these leaked survey skins will actually make it into Overwatch 2. There are some wedding-themed skins in Overwatch already, such as Widowmaker's Ghostly Bride and Sombra's Bride of Frankenstein-inspired Halloween skin, though these are more rooted in horror. Many in the community would like to see these wedding skins added to the shop or even brought to the game as part of an Overwatch wedding event.

As Season 13 of Overwatch 2 won't introduce a new hero, its Battle Pass theme will be the star of the show. Some fans are speculating that a witch theme may be in order, which would make sense with Halloween right around the corner. While a handful of Overwatch 2 heroes already have witch skins, there are still several popular characters who are well-suited to such a theme. Fans should be able to learn more about the next season at some point later this month, as Season 13 is expected to go live sometime in early October.
