An artist has made a very creative crossover by transforming the heroes of Overwatch 2 into Street Fighter characters. Overwatch 2 and Street Fighter feature characters from all over the world, with looks that reflect their origins. This is not the first crossover made by fans, who have already turned Overwatch 2 heroes into Street Fighter 5 characters with the help of mods, but it is a particularly memorable one.
The Overwatch 2 community is very creative when it comes to making art inspired by Blizzard's game. Players are especially creative in transforming their heroes into characters from other games, or even cartoons. Kiriko and her fox in Adventure Time art style is a good example of the cute, fun, and interesting results of fan art produced. In a recent series of artwork, a fan imagined what the heroes of Overwatch 2 would look like if they were Street Fighter characters, and the results are wildly entertaining.
Redditor I_S_U_K_A_ posted a series of fan art made by artist Meziosaur on the official Overwatch subreddit. In all, there are seven images showing the heroes of Overwatch 2 in Street Fighter style, and the result is impressive. Some art stands out; Hanzo appears as Ryu, who has a custom alternate with a beard dubbed "Hot Ryu". Pharah got a nice rendering as Makoto, and Junkrat got a great version as Adon. The dreaded Reaper turned M. Bison, one of the characters who immortalized the Street Fighter franchise.
Other notable artwork shows Roadhog as Birdie, in a great combination of the similar design of the two characters. The monk Zenyatta has become the yoga master Dhalsim, while the cheerful Tracer has become Sakura. Akuma is one of the most powerful characters in Street Fighter, and Winston appears as the user of Satsui no Hado. In a more fun side, little Wrecking Ball got a version of sumo wrestler E. Honda.
Fan art is always a fun way to imagine what potential collaborations between franchises would look like, and in this case, it's no different. Overwatch 2 and Street Fighter are big names among competitive games, and there are certainly gamers who enjoy both franchises. Meziosaur's artwork follows really well-thought-out parallels that make one imagine what Street Fighter skins would look like in Overwatch 2. Or, what Street Fighter would look like with someone from Overwatch 2. It is not so impossible to visualize, as a mod added Mei in Street Fighter 5 as a playable character, though it is likely not the first pairing that most gamers would think of.
Overwatch 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
