There's an Overwatch 2 exploit that could make Sombra's ultimate useless. This seems to be another game-breaking Overwatch 2 glitch, with the most recent being the Tracer pulse bomb bug that could damage players through shields.
Since launching last year, Overwatch 2 has received criticisms for allegedly not leveling up the quality of gameplay from the first game, and for scrapping the PvE campaign mode, among some of them. Despite these issues, many people still log on to solo queue or play with their friends. Sometimes, they would even encounter a number of bugs during their matches.
The latest Overwatch 2 exploit that's been making the rounds could apparently deem Sombra's EMP ultimate useless. In a TikTok video by aedr.omar, they explained that if Attacking players lifted all their allies using Lifeweaver's Petal Platform in the spawn area, it would give them invulnerability from Sombra's ultimate ability. The EMP is meant to deal damage equal to 40% to all nearby enemies' health, and destroying barriers around her. With the Lifeweaver exploit, Sombra players won't be able to hurt their opponents, or could only deal a small amount of damage. Other Overwatch 2 fans online explained further that it would be in effect until players switched heroes.
The Overwatch 2 exploit allegedly appeared after Sombra and Lifeweaver's recent updates. Many Sombra mains were shocked that this might happen if they faced a Lifeweaver in their next match, while others seemed to mock Blizzard for letting the bug slide. Meanwhile, there were also players who said that Overwatch 2 might temporarily disable Lifeweaver to patch the Petal Platform.
As of writing, Blizzard hasn't addressed the issue with Lifeweaver and Sombra. There's no knowing yet when the developers would resolve this issue, especially since this could be considered as unfair and game-breaking for many players who might abuse or be affected by this exploit. It is indeed possible that Lifeweaver might get disabled for a bit if Overwatch 2 devs won't be able to quickly patch the Petal Platform in the next update. This was also done in the past to fix a major bug with Mei's abilities.
This wasn't the first time Lifeweaver was used in cheesy plays as Overwatch 2 fans discovered creative ways to evade and defeat enemies using his abilities. Sometimes, it would involve Lifeweaver sacrificing his teammate using his Life Grip, which could be both frustrating and hilarious for players. While such clips can be entertaining for some players, it is still important for Blizzard to address these issues before the bugs are abused further.
Overwatch 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
