Summary
- Overwatch 2 fans suggested a Junkrat Cabbage Merchant skin idea.
- Some players feel Ashe would've been a better fit for Avatar crossover due to shared voice actor connections.
- Blizzard focuses on main characters for Avatar event rather than side characters.
Overwatch 2's fans have pointed out how the game's Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover missed an opportunity for a Junkrat skin. Limited-time collaborations with other media are a staple of the hero shooter, but players are quick to recognize ways they can go further. Overwatch 2's Avatar event is no exception, with some fans going so far as to make their own skin concepts.
This latest crossover brings six Avatar-inspired skins to Overwatch 2, including an Aang-themed Zenyatta cosmetic and a Zuko skin for Genji. Many of the choices are a natural fit — dressing Mei as Katara, for example, makes a lot of sense, considering how similar Mei's ice abilities are to water bending. Still, some players think Blizzard may have overlooked some obvious choices and made their own designs to prove the point.
Overwatch 2: All Avatar: The Last Airbender Challenges & Rewards
Overwatch 2's Seaosn 14 Avatar: The Last Airbender collab event contains a variety of challenges that can be completed for rewards.
Overwatch 2 fans on Reddit have mentioned that Junkrat should've gotten a Cabbage Merchant skin as part of the Avatar collab. One user who goes by the drawnbyjared, took it into their own hands to design what the cosmetic could've looked like. Others praised the concept in the comments, adding that Junkrat's ammo could have been actual cabbages and saying the crossover would finally let the show's Cabbage Merchant get his revenge for all the soiled produce. Players drew their own Overwatch 2 x My Hero Academia skins during that crossover, too, so it was only a matter of time before it happened with the Avatar event.
Overwatch 2 Fans Want More Avatar Skins
The Cabbage Merchant isn't the only Avatar character fans think should've gotten some love from the collaboration. Before the crossover event started, Redditors pointed out that Overwatch 2 missed an opportunity with Ashe, as the hero shares the same voice actor as Avatar's June. Junkrat and the Cabbage Merchant don't have quite as close a connection, though the two do share a similar kind of comedic energy.

As cool as the fan-made Junkrat skin concept is, it's understandable why Blizzard didn't include it. Both the Cabbage Merchant and June are side characters who, although memorable, don't get that much screen time. It makes more sense for developers to focus on mains like Katara and Zuko. Considering that the upcoming Avatar RPG will take place thousands of years before the show, it's unlikely that the Cabbage Merchant will show up there, either. Who knows — a distant ancestor could be in the cards, though.
