Like most RPGs, The Outer Worlds 2 offers up many different terminals, computers, doors, chests, and other security-locked devices and objects for players to try and break into. Sometimes, you'll need a Mag-Pick, whereas other times you'll need a Bypass Shunt to hack your way into a computer system. While both are incredibly useful, they're also consumables, so once they've been used to open one thing, they're gone forever. As such, you might be wondering how to get more Mag-Picks and Bypass Shunts in The Outer Worlds 2. Here's what you need to know.

The Outer Worlds 2's game director reveals why a staple RPG feature is missing from Obsidian's upcoming title.
How to Get More Mag-Picks in The Outer Worlds 2
Mag-Picks can be found in the world, typically in containers within buildings, on shelves, or on the corpses of unscrupulous people that may have also been up to no good. They can also be purchased from vendors or vending machines for 150 credits if you need them in a hurry.
Alternatively, you can choose to craft Mag-Picks at a workbench for one magnet, three scrap metal, and two foil as long as you have the 'Innovative' trait. There is no limit to the amount of Mag-Picks you can carry at any given time, or craft (if you have the resources).
With some locks requiring multiple Mag-Picks to open, I'd recommend crafting and carrying as many as you can so you're never locked out of accessing something that might contain something valuable or help you on a quest.
Mag-Picks (and Bypass Shunts) can be bought for less money if you have a trait such as 'Consumerism', which reduces the buying price of items from vendors. In the case of Consumerism, however, it also reduces the amount you can sell items for, so keep that in mind.
How to Get More Bypass Shunts in The Outer Worlds 2
Bypass Shunts can also be purchased from vendors and vending machines, as well as found in the world. In my experience, I found that they were typically lying around in advanced facilities where there was a lot of technology, in tool boxes, or on the bodies of enemies. They could also just randomly be found in chests or other strange locations around the world, so it is a case of simply looking around as much as you can and hoping you get a bit lucky.
If you'd rather not wait around, you can buy Bypass Shunts from vendors for 550 credits each. Given they're so cheap, this is arguably the best way to make sure you always have some on hand. However, vendors and vending machines will typically only have a finite amount of stock, meaning once you've bought what they have, you won't be able to get any more from them.
Finally, you can choose to craft Bypass Shunts by interacting with a workbench, or by speaking to your companion, Niles, and using his ability. This will cost you one shiny servo, three scrap metal, and two foil to craft as long as you have the 'Innovative' trait. Make sure you're regularly breaking down junk items or old gear to ensure you always have the required resources you need.
